About The Position

River Oaks Hospital, a 126-bed psychiatric facility located near New Orleans, Louisiana, has been providing quality treatment for mental illness and addictive disorders since 1970. The hospital operates on a 14-acre campus, offering inpatient services for adults and adolescents, as well as partial hospitalization programs (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for adults. The New Orleans Institute specializes in trauma and compulsive behaviors, while the Eating Disorders Treatment Center offers a comprehensive program for adults with anorexia, bulimia, and related disorders. Both specialized centers are nationally recognized and receive referrals from across the United States. River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Director of Plant Operations to join its team. This role is responsible for the development, organization, and management of the facility and grounds, including Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Safety. The Director ensures all duties are performed systematically and in a timely manner, adhering to hospital policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory/accreditation guidelines, to maintain a well-maintained and safe environment for patients and employees.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Louisiana Drivers License.
  • Five years of experience in facilities management or related field.
  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment, electrical, plumbing and mechanical maintenance.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory codes regarding Fire and Life Safety codes, building and engineering codes.
  • Experience communicating and managing staff and projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree from a college or technical/trade school preferred.
  • Experience in JC readiness and surveys in a psychiatric setting.
  • 1-2 years supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directs all activities and staff pertaining to safety, grounds and building maintenance; housekeeping; security; and transportation and parking services in accordance with pertinent standards, regulations, and policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with pertinent healthcare building codes, accreditation standards, OSHA, and contractual work specifications; and oversee emergency facilities operational initiatives and plans.
  • Oversee all construction projects and any work performed by outside vendors and contractors, while assuring that all work performed meets fire and safety codes.
  • Maintain documentation for various regulatory agencies such as JC, City of New Orleans and Fire Marshall.
  • Assure that OSHA guidelines and hospital safety policies are being followed.
