About The Position

The Director of Plant Operations is responsible for ensuring the maintenance of a safe, clean, healthy, and physical environment for patients, staff, and guests in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Austin Oaks Hospital. This role encompasses the duties of Facility Fire Marshal, Safety Officer, and Chairman of the Safety Committee. The position is responsible for initiating the emergency preparedness and operations programs for Austin Oaks Hospital and acts as a liaison to local community and state agency emergency management agencies.

Requirements

  • Previous demonstrated Supervisory experience required, preferably in a health care setting.
  • Must have five years of experience in a health care environment, preferably behavioral.
  • Must have five years of experience in general plant operations/engineering and building construction, preferably in a health care setting.
  • Valid Class C driver license; clean driving record.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand for sustained periods of time; walk, lift, pull objects from a lower to higher positions or horizontally from position to position; express or exchange ideas orally and potentially louder, accurately and quickly.
  • Visual acuity is needed while cleaning to ensure work is being done correctly.
  • Work is moderately heavy with frequent lifting and carrying objects weighting up to 50 pounds.
  • Work involves considerable walking, standing, pushing, pulling or equipment.
  • Position involves frequent reaching for and handling of cleaning tools, maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Work is completed indoors and outdoors.
  • Candidate must be able to assist in crisis intervention prevention with patients after completing crisis management orientation.
  • Candidate must understand the possibility and methods of protection for exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably College Graduate
  • A Facility Engineering Degree is beneficial or work experience equivalent.
