About The Position

Voyage Financial Advisors, an independent financial services practice of Thrivent, is seeking a Director of Planning Operations to join their growing team. This full-time role focuses on providing comprehensive financial planning services to clients primarily in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota. The Director of Planning Operations will act as a resource for financial advisors, support clients, and play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the planning team. The ideal candidate will be values-aligned with the team's core values of Faith, Family, Trust, Collaboration, Communication, and Community. This role requires a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.

Requirements

  • Securities (Series 7 and 66 or Series 7, 63 and 65) and resident state Life, Health and Annuities registration
  • Satisfactory background check, fingerprinting and securities registration and/or insurance licensing verification, if applicable.
  • Project and Process management experience.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in financial planning or related financial services roles.
  • Exceptional people, leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with financial planning tools, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to work with all roles of the sponsoring financial advisor
  • Must be able to represent the organization in work with external clients
  • Must be able to cultivate and maintain relationships with outside organizations

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Financial Planning, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field preferred.
  • CFP® designation preferred or ability to obtain within 2 years of start date.

Responsibilities

  • Actively prepare financial analysis and develop financial plans, serving as a hands-on planner day to day, in a fast-paced high-producing environment.
  • Integrate Microsoft Co-Pilot and other AI tools into process and operations.
  • Lead, coach, and develop members of the financial planning team.
  • Oversee preparation, review, and delivery of comprehensive financial plans and ensure accuracy and process efficiency.
  • Assist in the creation of financial plans and help assist the advisory team by creating straightforward implementation steps for the advisors to help drive revenue growth through implementation.
  • Partner with advisors to support client planning strategy, meeting preparation and preparing advisor meeting guides.
  • Control and form processes for, RMDs, internal payment of policies, death claims and opportunities.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of client data within planning and CRM systems.
  • Improve and scale planning and meeting prep workflows, tasking, and opportunities to enhance efficiency and service quality.
  • Directly prepare meetings for 20-40 appointments per week.
  • Serve as a senior planning resource on complex client cases.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive client and firm information.
  • Ensure adherence to Thrivent policies, compliance standards, and regulatory requirements.
