About The Position

Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP) is seeking a Director of Planning and Analysis to join their leadership team. This role is crucial for ensuring seamless coordination of priorities, initiatives, and communications across the organization, acting as a central point of contact between the President's office, executive leadership, and broader Texas Children's stakeholders. The Director will maintain visibility into critical path initiatives, proactively track progress, identify risks, and ensure leadership awareness of any changes. They will also lead or support high-priority projects, develop performance reporting, and identify strategic initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness. The role involves developing and executing communication strategies, preparing executive-level materials, and managing stakeholder engagement. Additionally, the Director will lead strategic and operational planning processes, support financial and operational reviews, and ensure organizational alignment with strategic priorities. A key aspect of the role is leading the development and delivery of data-driven insights for decision-making, analyzing performance trends, and conducting market research. The Director will also oversee a Project Management Office (PMO) responsible for enterprise-wide initiatives, ensuring projects are aligned with strategic priorities, delivered on time and within scope, and evaluated for impact. This includes coordinating cross-functional resources, implementing standardized project management tools, and providing regular updates to executive leadership. The role also involves partnering with executive administrative support to manage schedules and preparing briefing materials for executive meetings. Founded in 1996, Texas Children’s Health Plan is the nation's first health maintenance organization (HMO) created just for children, providing STAR/Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) to over 375,000 members in Houston and surrounding areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, strategic planning, and/or operations areas of a healthcare and/or nonprofit organization required
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and related tools.
  • Exceptional organizational, project management, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with executive-level presence.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Self-directed, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the TCHP President’s leadership team, ensuring seamless coordination of priorities, initiatives, and communications across the organization.
  • Act as a central point of coordination between the President’s office, executive leadership, TCHP management, and broader Texas Children’s stakeholders.
  • Maintain visibility into critical path initiatives, proactively tracking progress, identifying risks, and ensuring leadership awareness of any changes in scope, timeline, or outcomes.
  • Lead or support high-priority, long-term, and special projects as assigned by the TCHP President.
  • Develop and present reporting on business performance, risks, opportunities, and outcomes across the Health Plan.
  • Identify and recommend strategic initiatives to accelerate organizational priorities and enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Develop and execute communication strategies supporting key initiatives, organizational updates, and leadership messaging.
  • Prepare executive-level materials including agendas, presentations, memos, and correspondence.
  • Manage follow-up communications and ensure alignment across stakeholders.
  • Act on behalf of the TCHP President to address inquiries, resolve issues, and proactively manage stakeholder needs.
  • Partner with Texas Children’s Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations teams to ensure alignment with system-wide messaging and brand standards.
  • Lead coordination and facilitation of strategic planning processes, including annual, quarterly, and monthly business reviews.
  • Support financial and operational performance reviews in collaboration with executive leadership.
  • Ensure organizational alignment with strategic priorities and budget objectives.
  • Translate executive leadership goals into actionable, trackable plans that drive accountability and execution across teams.
  • Lead the development and delivery of data-driven insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Partner with executive leadership to analyze performance trends, identify opportunities, and address organizational challenges.
  • Conduct research on market trends, industry benchmarks, and emerging opportunities to inform planning and innovation.
  • Oversee a high-performing PMO responsible for enterprise-wide initiatives from planning through execution.
  • Ensure projects are aligned with strategic priorities, delivered on time and within scope, and evaluated for impact and ROI.
  • Coordinate cross-functional resources, including data, personnel, and tools, to support project success.
  • Implement standardized project management tools, templates, and governance frameworks.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership on project status, risks, and outcomes.
  • Partner with operational leaders to evaluate project effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Systems Engineering for complex or large-scale initiatives as needed.
  • Partner closely with executive administrative support to manage schedules, priorities, and key commitments.
  • Prepare briefing materials and strategic context for executive meetings.
  • Facilitate meeting preparation, participant alignment, and follow-up actions.
  • Support development of executive communications, including speeches, presentations, and talking points.
