About The Position

The Director of Pharmacy provides strategic, operational, clinical, financial and regulatory leadership for Gracelight Community Health’s pharmacy services. The Director is responsible for the overall performance and growth of Gracelight’s in-house pharmacies and Clinical Pharmacy services, including leadership and development of Pharmacy Managers and Clinical Pharmacists, pharmacy compliance, quality and medication safety, 340B Drug Pricing Program oversight, and financial performance. The Director ensures pharmacy services operate in accordance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations and organizational policies, including requirements of the California Board of Pharmacy, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)/Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC), and the 340B Drug Pricing Program. The Director promotes operational excellence, regulatory and audit readiness, high-quality patient care and effective stewardship of pharmacy resources. The Director collaborates across the organization to support existing initiatives and develop new programs and services. The Director identifies and leads opportunities to grow Gracelight’s pharmacy business line, expand and optimize pharmacy services, improve medication access and patient outcomes, increase appropriate utilization of in-house pharmacies, and strengthen the financial performance and sustainability of pharmacy services.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
• Active California Registered Pharmacist License in good standing.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible pharmacy experience, including pharmacy leadership and personnel management experience; experience overseeing multiple pharmacy operations preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and evaluating pharmacists and pharmacy staff, including setting goals, managing performance and overseeing projects.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state pharmacy laws and regulations, including California Board of Pharmacy and Drug Enforcement Administration requirements.
• Strong knowledge of the 340B Drug Pricing Program, including compliance, auditing, operational controls and program integrity.
• Experience managing pharmacy financial performance, budgets, reimbursement, medication acquisition costs, inventory, revenue and operational performance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate effectively with clinical, operational, financial, compliance, quality and administrative teams; community health center or FQHC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports and implements the organization’s vision, mission and values and performs all job functions in a professional and courteous manner.
• Provides overall leadership, strategic direction and accountability for Gracelight’s in-house pharmacies and Clinical Pharmacy services, including operational, clinical, financial and regulatory performance.
• Directly supervises, coaches and develops Pharmacy Managers and Clinical Pharmacists, including establishing goals and performance expectations, conducting performance evaluations, supporting professional development and addressing performance concerns.
• Holds Pharmacy Managers accountable for the effective management and performance of their assigned pharmacies, including operations, staffing, service, quality, compliance and financial performance.
• Establishes department-wide goals, priorities, performance standards and key performance indicators and uses clinical, operational and financial data to monitor performance and drive improvement.
• Provides leadership and oversight of Clinical Pharmacy services, including Clinical Pharmacist performance, clinical programs, projects, integration with care teams and measurement of clinical, quality, operational and financial outcomes.
• Provides oversight of the 340B Drug Pricing Program, including program integrity, policies and procedures, eligibility, purchasing, inventory, dispensing, monitoring, auditing and corrective actions, and ensures compliance with applicable requirements.
• Provides oversight of the 340B Drug Pricing Program, including program integrity, policies and procedures, eligibility, purchasing, inventory, dispensing, monitoring, auditing and corrective actions; ensures compliance with applicable HRSA requirements; and oversees processes necessary to respond to evolving 340B regulatory, manufacturer and program requirements.
• Ensures pharmacy services comply with applicable federal and state laws and regulatory requirements, including the California Board of Pharmacy, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), HRSA/Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC), the 340B Drug Pricing Program and other applicable authorities, and monitors regulatory and industry developments that may impact pharmacy operations, compliance or financial performance.
• Partners with Finance to develop and monitor the Pharmacy Department budget and key financial measures, including revenue, expenses, medication acquisition costs, inventory, reimbursement and margins.
• Leads the growth and development of Gracelight’s pharmacy business line by identifying and implementing opportunities to expand pharmacy and Clinical Pharmacy services, increase appropriate utilization of in-house pharmacies, improve prescription capture and patient retention, and grow revenue and financial contribution.
• Evaluates new pharmacy programs, services, partnerships and other business opportunities for clinical value, operational feasibility, regulatory compliance and financial impact and leads implementation as appropriate.
• Collaborates with clinical, operations, quality, compliance, finance, revenue cycle, information technology and other departments to support existing organizational initiatives and develop new programs and services that advance patient care, pharmacy growth and organizational goals.
• Participates in Gracelight committees and leadership discussions relevant to pharmacy services and maintains effective relationships with vendors, payers and other external partners.
• Uses discretion and judgment in handling sensitive or confidential information, complies with organizational policies and procedures, performs job duties independently and with good judgment, and performs all other duties as assigned.
