About The Position

The Director of Performance Improvement (DPI) has broad responsibility to evaluate the quality and system efficiency of the facility and create strategies for improvement. The DPI coordinates with other managers to ensure performance improvement efforts. The DPI is responsible for staff training and education on the hospital’s performance initiatives and measures including outcomes measurement and reporting. The DPI prepares and conducts monitoring efforts to create accurate performance reports. As Compliance Officer this position also has broad responsibility to ensure the hospital’s compliance at all times with the UHS Code of Conduct and Compliance Program policies. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, or related health field required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to communicate in a clear, concise manner with employees, patients, physicians, and the public.
  • Ability to interact in a positive manner and to communicate well with patients, families, co-workers, supervisor and other hospital employees.
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Visual acuity and good analytical ability are needed to interpret and analyze statistical data, budgets, and a variety of personnel-related reports.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and revise personnel policies and procedures in accordance with state, federal, and corporate standards.
  • Ability to meet and deal effectively with the public, department managers, and employees.
  • Must be able to exercise good judgment and make recommendations in the best interest of the hospital and its employees and maintain confidentiality of information.
  • A strong knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS standards, and any other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities.
  • Knowledge of computers and various software.
  • Strong analytical interpretation skills.
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication.
  • Ability to accept direction and adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of adapting to the various patient age groups (adolescent, adult and geriatric).
  • Ability to meet corporate deadlines.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of quality management principles, practices and techniques.
  • Knowledge of performance improvement planning techniques and goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • At least three years clinical experience in a related setting preferred.
