About The Position

Houston Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is currently recruiting for a Director of Performance Improvement and Risk Management. This position is tasked with the development, planning, coordination, and administration of a structured program aimed at minimizing risk and injury. Additionally, responsible for the creation, implementation, and oversight of a quality review program. Ensures adherence to regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a related field required.
  • Two years experience in psychiatric service delivery system and treatment methods, with specific knowledge and skills in areas of risk management.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Current knowledge of continuous Quality Improvement methodology

  • Skills in data collection, analysis, evaluation and interpretation

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management Plans, as well as the collection and presentation of data necessary for tracking quality indicators.
  • Identifies and assesses quality management problems and refers to staff for action.
  • Reviews incident reports, patient grievances, and safety information to identify patterns and address underlying issues.
  • Oversees the identification, analysis, and evaluation of potential losses across the facility.
  • Recognizes legal risks associated with professional and general liability to prevent and manage losses stemming from these legal concerns.
  • Acts as a resource for medical personnel and facility committees on matters related to quality.
  • Prepare the facility for surveys and audits by groups like CMS and The Joint Commission.
  • Ensures the provision of in-service education to parties involved in quality assurance, familiarizing them with TJC standards, its interpretation, methods of data collection display and statistical analysis.
  • Oversee adherence to TJC and other regulatory requirements.
  • Educate employees and medical personnel on quality standards, privacy regulations, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Examines, assesses, and conveys patterns and trends related to professional and comprehensive general liability claims to both administrative and medical teams.
  • Provides recommendations regarding facility operations to minimize liability exposure and reduce insurance claims.
  • May act on behalf of the organization in legal proceedings and collaborates with legal counsel.
  • Conducts personnel management tasks related to direct staff oversight, including recruitment and selection, orientation training and development, performance evaluation, and employee relations activities.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to collect data and inform strategic choices.
  • Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.
