About The Position

Office Hours is seeking its first Director of People Operations to establish and lead the people function within the company. This role will be responsible for designing and managing programs and infrastructure related to performance, employee relations, benefits, policy, and HR systems. The Director will also lead the talent and recruiting team, influencing both how individuals join the company and their subsequent experience. This is a hands-on role for an individual who enjoys building and then operating the systems they create, from designing performance cycles and policies to managing HR systems and benefits administration. The position requires strong judgment on sensitive employee matters and the ability to develop programs from inception.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in people operations and HR business partnering, including leadership of a people function.
  • Experience at a company with fewer than 150 employees, where the candidate owned a broad scope and performed tasks directly.
  • Proven experience designing and running performance cycles from start to finish.
  • Direct experience advising on employee relations matters with sound judgment regarding escalation.
  • Hands-on HRIS ownership as a system administrator, including configuration and data cleanup.
  • Experience leading teams, particularly talent and recruiting, with a clear philosophy on people development.
  • Excellent written communication skills for policy, program design, and engaging internal communications.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute performance review and promotion cycles, including calibration, manager enablement, systems, and communications.
  • Partner with leaders on employee development planning and performance improvement.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on workplace matters, lead investigations, coach managers, and determine when to involve legal counsel.
  • Develop and maintain the employee handbook and people policies, managing the review, approval, and rollout process.
  • Manage benefits programs end-to-end, including evaluation, renewals, enrollment, and employee inquiries.
  • Act as the HRIS system administrator, overseeing configuration, integrations, and data integrity.
  • Build reports for leadership on headcount, attrition, and engagement.
  • Design onboarding and offboarding programs to ensure new hire success and smooth employment transitions.
  • Implement recognition programs, rituals, and internal communications to bring company values to life.
  • Administer engagement and pulse surveys, analyze results, and present findings to leadership.
  • Lead and develop the Talent & Recruiting team.
  • Hire and manage an Office Manager & Employee Experience role.
