Objective: The Director of Payments & Digital Banking is responsible for leading the implementation, administration, and ongoing optimization of the Bank's digital banking platforms and payment services. This position serves as the operational leader for digital banking delivery, electronic payments, and related technology initiatives, ensuring solutions are executed effectively, securely, and in alignment with the Bank's strategic objectives. This role works closely with the Director of Digital Strategy & Products to execute the Bank's digital roadmap. While the Digital Strategy & Products function defines the strategic direction and product vision, this position is responsible for implementation, operational execution, vendor coordination, payment expertise, and ongoing support of digital banking and payment solutions.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of digital banking platforms and customer-facing banking technology.
  • Strong working knowledge of payment operations including ACH, Same Day ACH, wires, debit cards, FedNow, RTP, bill payment, and P2P payments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead system implementations, conversions, integrations, and enhancement projects.
  • Vendor and fintech relationship management experience.
  • Strong project coordination, change management, and operational execution skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Operations, IT, Treasury Management, Retail Banking, Compliance, Fraud, and vendor partners.
  • Customer experience focus with the ability to support digital adoption and service delivery improvements.
  • Regulatory, compliance, risk, and operational control awareness related to electronic banking and payment services.
  • Minimum of 7 years of banking, payments, digital banking, treasury management, financial technology, or related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supporting technology implementations, system conversions, vendor integrations, or major system enhancements.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership, supervisory, team lead, or project leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience working with API connections, digital banking platforms, payment processing, fintech providers, or third-party banking technology vendors to ensure smooth, secure, and reliable digital banking for services for our customers preferred.
  • Experience with real-time payments, FedNow, RTP, debit card services, ACH, wire transfers, treasury management solutions, or emerging payment technologies preferred.
  • Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification preferred. Candidates without AAP certification must be willing to pursue certification within an agreed-upon timeframe following employment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop team members responsible for digital banking and payment operations including workload management, training, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Lead the administration, support, enhancement, and ongoing performance of the Bank's digital banking platforms, including online and mobile banking solutions.
  • Serve as the operational lead for digital banking implementations, conversions, upgrades, integrations, and enhancement projects.
  • Partner with the Director of Digital Strategy & Products to execute the Bank's digital roadmap and deliver approved digital banking initiatives.
  • Coordinate cross-functional implementation efforts involving Operations, IT, Retail Banking, Treasury Management, Compliance, Fraud, and vendor partners.
  • Ensure successful deployment, testing, training, communication, and operational readiness for new digital products, features, and services.
  • Monitor digital platform performance, customer adoption, service delivery, and operational metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with business units to enhance the digital customer experience and increase adoption of digital banking services.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for payment-related services including ACH, Same Day ACH, FedNow, RTP, wires, debit cards, bill payment, P2P payments, and other electronic payment solutions.
  • Ensure efficient, accurate, secure, and compliant processing of payment transactions and related operational activities.
  • Monitor payment risk, fraud trends, operational controls, and regulatory requirements impacting payment services.
  • Support Treasury Management and other business lines in delivering payment solutions that meet customer and business needs.
  • Lead or support the evaluation and implementation of emerging payment technologies and digital banking capabilities.
  • Manage relationships with digital banking, payment, card processing, and fintech vendors.
  • Participate in vendor evaluations, contract reviews, solution demonstrations, implementation planning, and ongoing performance reviews.
  • Coordinate vendor resources during system conversions, upgrades, integrations, issue resolution, and enhancement projects.
  • Stay informed on emerging payment trends, fintech innovations, and banking technology solutions that may enhance customer experience or operational efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within digital banking and payment operations.
