About The Position

The Director of Patient Accounting provides key leadership regarding the revenue cycle through verification of benefits, securing authorization for services provided, clean claim submission and liquidation of accounts receivable. This position is responsible for maintaining a highly functioning internal and external customer-centered focus team that collaborates with clients and staff. This position also supports the responsible evaluation and use of automation, analytics, and AI-enabled tools to improve revenue cycle performance, reduce administrative burden, strengthen compliance, and enhance internal and external customer service.

Requirements

A BA/BS in Business Administration or Finance is required.
Minimum of 5 years of related management experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a revenue cycle environment is required.
Must demonstrate a thorough understanding of the full Revenue Cycle with up-to-date knowledge of the industry.
Demonstrated commitment to maximizing appropriate reimbursement and ensuring timely, accurate collection of revenue.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, retain, and engage high-performing team
Act 73 FBI, Act 34 Criminal Clearance, and Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in working within an electronic medical record and preferred experience in implementing an electronic medical record.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the work processes, management, metrics, development, and optimization of the revenue cycle that begins from insurance verification through claim liquidation.
Will be a critical member of the team and will have deep collaborative relationships across departments and programs.
Will have a comprehensive grasp of coding, regulations, and revenue cycle protocols for all payor sources.
Will review and provide feedback to the CFO on payor contracts and ensure compliance with revenue cycle expectations.
Will provide guidance to programmatic leadership on changes in coding, revenue enhancement opportunities, billing guidelines, etc.
Will hold monthly accounts receivable meetings with clinical leadership to provide timely and routine feedback on claim liquidation in a meaningful way to collaboratively enhance collections.
Maintains current knowledge of and complies with established policies and procedures including patient confidentiality/patient rights, government, insurance, and third-party payer regulations.
Maintains current knowledge of all regulations, contracts, etc. applicable to the revenue cycle.
Conveys information to other team members as needed regarding any changes.
Ensures revenue cycle practices comply with HIPAA, patient confidentiality requirements, payer rules, documentation standards, audit readiness expectations, and ethical billing and collection practices.
Ensure maximization of cash collections through diligent and timely monitoring of all open accounts receivable balances.
Will work collaboratively with the CFO, including insurance company contract negotiations, input to the budgeting process and financial performance review.
