Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in theology, pastoral ministries or like area of concentration
  • Experience in pastoral leadership within a congregation
  • At least 1 (2 or 3 preferred) units of Clinical Pastoral Education
  • Must be able to minister in an inter-denominational capacity and be able to love and understand older adults.
  • Flexibility for occasional extended hours or weekends.
  • Be available to provide mediation in the event of conflict
  • Aware of self in relationship with others; how you relate to others and how others feel in relationship with you
  • Treating all information about residents, their conditions, situations, needs, and family information as confidential matter.
  • Abides by current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of sexual harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace. Complies with established policies and procedures and maintains established standards and practices including the Compliance Program/Code of Conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead worship services, prayer opportunities, memorial services, Bible or spiritual studies, and other appropriate gatherings. (The Director of Pastoral Services shall conduct an interdenominational service of Holy Communion.)
  • Coordinate visiting clergy, congregations, musicians, speakers, volunteers, and other spiritual-care partners as appropriate.
  • Develop trusting relationships with residents through regular presence, conversation, visitation, and pastoral care.
  • Provide individual spiritual and emotional support to residents experiencing illness, grief, loss, loneliness, transition, family concerns, or other significant life events.
  • Provide spiritual support and presence for residents and families during end-of-life experiences.
  • Visit residents during times of hospitalization.
  • Facilitate spiritual and emotional support groups, including bereavement and grief support groups, in response to the needs of the community
  • Communicates regularly with supporting churches, ministries and other APG pastoral care leadership
  • Oversee requests and the distribution process for the Employee Compassion and Relief Fund
  • Contribute to creating and maintaining a work climate that encourages positive team member moral, motivation and commitment to the mission of the organization.
  • Attends all mandatory in-service training programs and required meetings relevant to the position.
  • Complies with regulatory agency standards and applicable policies and procedures
  • Complies with safety and infection control protocols in all aspects of the job
  • Perform other duties as required
