About The Position

At Michigan's Adventure, we create fun-filled memories that last a lifetime. From thrilling rides to immersive water attractions and unique resort experiences, our park brings together excitement, connection, and tradition for families and guests. The Director of Park Operations oversees all operational and administrative activities for the Park Operations Division, including Ride Operations, Aquatics, Park Services, Admissions, Live Entertainment, Safety, and Security Departments. This key senior leader sets the tone for the guest and associate experience, monitors and controls operating costs, manages staffing needs, and provides direction to the team. The Director works closely with the Maintenance Department to ensure safe and proper operation of all rides and waterpark attractions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and / or extensive experience in an amusement park with emphasis on ride and waterpark operations.
  • Ability to communicate and follow directions
  • Excellent organizational and supervisory skills
  • Ability to handle a flexible and demanding schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps Park President informed of all major developments within the Park Operations Division.
  • Owns the Guest Experience, from guest arrival to exit.
  • Oversees the department's various training and standard operating procedures to ensure guest service and safety at all times, loss prevention and profitability.
  • Prepares operating budgets and ensures adherence.
  • Maintains appropriate channels of communication with management as well as with seasonal employees and park guests.
  • Ensures staffing levels are appropriate - Recruits, hires, trains, schedules and evaluates assigned staff.
  • Initiates corrective / improvement actions as directed.
  • Prepares accurate reports and maintains proper documentation.
  • Ensures compliance with all governmental, corporate, and divisional policies and procedures.
  • Oversees all functions related to Water Park training and operations
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Park President.
  • Assumes responsibility for overall park appearance and cleanliness, including backstage areas.
  • Partners with other division heads in Human Resources, Finance, In-Park Revenue, Marketing and Maintenance to grow the guest and associate experience.
