About The Position

The Director of Operations is a leadership role responsible for the day-to-day running of the production facility to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable operations. This leader drives production execution, implements continuous improvement methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma) to eliminate waste, ensures strict compliance with environmental, health and safety (EHS) regulations (e.g., OSHA), and oversees preventative maintenance of equipment and facility infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Proven knowledge of OSHA standards and safety compliance best practices.
  • Strong understanding of Lean manufacturing tools (VSM, TPM, 5S) and experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing/production operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strategic Leadership: Ability to align daily operations with long-term company growth strategies.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to identifying and resolving complex operational bottlenecks.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to influence across all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree (MBA) or technical certifications (Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, PMP, CPIM).
  • Experience in data stamping and metal forming manufacturing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all production activities to meet or exceed established production goals, quality standards, and customer delivery schedules.
  • Direct the execution of production plans and allocate resources (manpower, equipment and materials) to ensure optimal production flow.
  • Analyze KPI reports (e.g., on-time-delivery, past due, OEE, etc.) to evaluate performance and identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Manage finished goods and materials inventory levels in coordination with Supply Chain Department to support production demands.
  • Champion a Lean manufacturing culture, driving the application of 5S, Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping, and root cause analysis.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce waste, improve yield, increase labor productivity, and enhance equipment effectiveness.
  • Work cross-functionally to define process issues, measure current performance, and implement targeted improvements for sustained performance.
  • Champion a "Zero Incident" safety culture, ensuring strict adherence to OSHA regulations, EPA standards, and internal company safety policies.
  • Oversee comprehensive safety programs, including hazard mitigation, PPE requirements, safety audits, and emergency response planning.
  • Ensure all production equipment is properly calibrated and safe to operate.
  • Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance schedules for all manufacturing equipment and building infrastructure to minimize downtime.
  • Direct the facility’s maintenance team and oversee external contractor services to ensure efficiency and quality of repairs.
  • Direct and manage capital projects related to facility upgrades, equipment installation, and structural repairs.
  • Lead, mentor, and train plant managers, supervisors, and production staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Partner with HR to recruit, hire, evaluate, and develop talent within the operations department.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
