Director of Operations

CampusNew York, NY
$140,000 - $170,000Hybrid

About The Position

Campus is seeking a Director of Operations to support and scale critical operational areas. The primary focus for the first year will be Financial Aid and the associated operational processes, ensuring the team has the right systems, processes, and reporting for smooth operation. This role may expand to other operational areas as Campus grows. Reporting to the COO, the Director will collaborate with Financial Aid leaders and cross-functional partners to optimize daily operations, resolve bottlenecks, and design scalable processes that enhance both student and staff experiences. This is a role for an operator focused on improvement and scaling, not just maintenance. The individual will be responsible for identifying bottlenecks, working with Product and Engineering, developing managers, and continuously improving systems and processes. The ideal candidate enjoys making an existing operation significantly better through data, systems thinking, and strong cross-functional partnerships.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive operations leadership experience with a track record of owning and improving complex operational functions through periods of growth, increasing scale, and organizational change.
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams.
  • Experience leading managers and developing operational teams through periods of growth and organizational change.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with a bias toward action and measurable results.
  • Experience partnering closely with Product and Engineering to implement technology-enabled operational improvements.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Must have current and ongoing authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Improve existing workflows, identify operational bottlenecks, and implement scalable processes that increase efficiency, quality, and team effectiveness.
  • Create and maintain SOPs that keep cross-functional teams (Admissions, Registrar, Student Success, Financial Aid, Product, etc.) aligned and consistent in how student-facing processes are executed.
  • Partner with Product/Eng to roll out tech solutions that streamline operations and improve the student experience.
  • Establish performance metrics and dashboards to monitor progress, identify issues early, and continuously improve service.
