About The Position

Thermal Care, part of the Piovan Group, is a leading manufacturer of process cooling equipment and systems for applications worldwide. As an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer, Thermal Care provides heat transfer equipment for over 50 industries and specializes in meeting the specific needs of our customers by offering both standard and custom designed industrial process cooling solutions. Some of the industries served include plastics, laser, heat treating, food processing, machine tool, plating, anodizing, chemical, die casting, optical coating, and printing. The Operations Director is a key member of the Thermal Care leadership team and is responsible for the effective and efficient management of manufacturing operations, including production, supply chain, quality, assembly, and facilities. This role ensures timely delivery of products at the highest quality and lowest cost, while driving continuous improvement through Lean manufacturing principles and 6-S methodology. The Operations Director fosters a culture of accountability, empowerment, and operational excellence aligned with corporate values

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing production operations.
  • Proven experience implementing Lean manufacturing principles and 6-S methodology.
  • Strong background in mechanical and electrical assembly, sheet metal fabrication, and welding
  • Experience managing union workforce
  • Demonstrated ability to lead changes, improve processes, and deliver measurable results
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all manufacturing operations, including production scheduling, material management, inventory control, assembly, quality, and facility management
  • Establish and manage operational standards for cost control, resource utilization, productivity, and quality to consistently meet organizational performance goals
  • Drive Lean initiatives and 6-S practices to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance workplace organization and visualization
  • Implement continuous improvement programs focused on safety, quality, and throughput
  • Direct and coordinate activities related to sourcing, production, stocking, and delivery/distribution of products
  • Review financial statements, production reports, and performance data to identify areas for cost reduction and process improvement
  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Product Management to support new product development and ensure manufacturability
  • Mentor, coach, and develop team members; build a culture of engagement and accountability
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • Lead performance and behavior management processes to reduce risk and maintain a positive work environment
