About The Position

The Director of Operations will be responsible for the daily management of MTA Access-a-Ride operations and Smile Transportation Medicaid business. This role involves overseeing all facets of fleet management, including repair, maintenance, vehicle uptime, purchasing, and disposition. Additionally, the Director will manage driver operations, encompassing scheduling, recruitment in partnership with HR, and progressive discipline based on attendance and performance. The position also requires developing new programs and training to ensure the company meets its on-time performance obligations and maintaining the correct number of drivers on staff at all times. The initial phase will involve dedicating 4-6 weeks to learning the dispatch software and processes. The role supports three pillars: understanding MTA contract compliance, assessing and investing in people, and developing the Road Supervisor position. The Director will make recommendations to shareholders on areas for change and improvement, evaluate costs to enhance profitability, and manage and develop all direct reports. Finance will dual report to the VGM CFO and the Director as the P&L manager for the divisions.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Daily management of MTA Access-a-Ride operations and Smile Transportation Medicaid business.
  • Oversee all facets of Fleet Management, including efficient repair and maintenance, vehicle up time, purchasing and disposition.
  • Manage all facets of Driver Management, including driver scheduling, the driver recruiting cycle in partnership with HR, and driver progressive discipline based on attendance and performance.
  • Develop new programs and training to ensure the company meets its on-time performance obligations to customers.
  • Ensure the correct number of drivers are on staff at all times.
  • Learn the cycle of the dispatch software and processes for the first 4-6 weeks on a daily basis.
  • Understand all elements of the contract with the MTA to ensure compliance.
  • Assess and invest in people.
  • Develop the Road Supervisor position into a high functioning quality/safety component of the business.
  • Make recommendations to shareholders on areas of change and improvement.
  • Evaluate costs with a focus on improving profitability.
  • Manage and develop all direct reports.
