About The Position

The University of Southern California (USC) is seeking a Director of Operations for Olympic Sports to join its Athletics department. This role will assist in managing program logistics for a subset of Olympic sports, including but not limited to men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s golf, and rowing. The position is a full-time contract role, initially for one year with the possibility of annual renewal. The Director will report to the Deputy Athletic Director, Chief Operating Officer, and collaborate with coaches, student-athletes, and various support staff. Key attributes for this role include excellent time management, detail orientation, multitasking abilities, strong customer service, and efficient communication. Experience in higher education and understanding the needs of college athletes are preferred. The position requires a commitment to diversity, non-discrimination, and equal opportunity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Analytical, organized, and an outstanding communicator.
  • Specific sports operational management experience or administrative experience, preferably in a university environment.
  • Knowledge about the various aspects of a specific sports game.
  • Knowledge of NCAA regulations required.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of experience preferred.
  • Experience working in higher education and/or a sports related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of NCAA compliance regulations preferred.
  • Understanding of the unique culture and needs of college athletes preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of team travel and assist with recruiting travel, including transportation, accommodations, itineraries, and meals.
  • Manage program budgets by processing purchases, monitoring expenditures, reconciling accounts, and coordinating reimbursements.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate daily, seasonal, and annual team schedules while managing competing priorities across multiple Olympic sports programs.
  • Coordinate recruiting visits and assist with game day and event operations.
  • Serve as the primary operational liaison between coaches, Athletics administration, campus partners, and support units.
  • Build collaborative working relationships with coaches by anticipating operational needs and providing responsive customer service.
  • Support student athletes by coordinating onboarding, housing, meal plans, financial aid processes, and other operational and administrative needs.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, university, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Promote an environment that fosters inclusive relationships and upholds principles of the USC Code of Ethics.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
