About The Position

The Director of Nursing (DON) – Outpatient provides clinical leadership and oversight for nursing practice across outpatient behavioral health clinics, SMI Clinics, Patient Centered Medical Homes (PCMH), Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs), and FACT/ACT teams. This position ensures high-quality, safe, and compliant nursing care across geographically dispersed sites throughout Arizona. This role is responsible for clinical supervision of frontline nursing and medical assistant staff. Administrative supervision (scheduling, HR documentation, timekeeping) remains the responsibility of site leadership. The DON collaborates closely with compliance, quality, and operational leaders to strengthen clinical standards, improve outcomes, and drive performance improvement. The Director of Nursing also serves as the Program Sponsor for Opioid Treatment Programs, ensuring full adherence to SAMHSA, DEA, Arizona Department of Health Services, and accrediting-body requirements. Frequent site travel is required, and occasional after-hours or weekend visits may be necessary to support urgent staffing needs or on-call responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing leadership experience in behavioral health, addictions, community-based care, or integrated care.
  • Experience with OTP regulatory requirements required.
  • Strong knowledge of medication management standards and med-room operations required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently throughout Arizona required.
  • Valid Arizona (or Compact) Board of Nursing (current and in good standing).
  • Current driver’s license (valid and in good standing).
  • Clear 39-month motor vehicle record (MVR).
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree (MSN, MHA, MPH, or related) preferred.
  • Experience with ACT/FACT, SMI Clinics, or PCMH models preferred.
  • Experience with NextGen preferred.
