About The Position

The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for conducting initial assessments of prospective residents, including off-site visits, and performing wellness assessments to develop individualized care plans. The DON delivers health promotion services, offers disease prevention counseling, and provides self-care education to residents. This role involves engaging with residents and family members compassionately, fostering communication with physicians and healthcare providers, and leading the clinical team. The DON also coordinates the Community’s infection control program, oversees the medication management program, and contributes to quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives, while ensuring compliance with all privacy regulations.

Requirements

  • Maintains current state nursing licensure. LPN required, RN preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years nursing supervisory experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the readiness to mentor, motivate, and inspire team members
  • Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to serve with love, compassion, and dignity

  • Prior senior/supportive living experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conducts initial assessment of prospective residents, including off-site visits

  • Engages with residents and family members in a compassionate and impactful manner, creating a lasting and positive experience
  • Fosters communication by regularly engaging with physicians, pertinent healthcare providers, and family members
  • Hires, trains, schedules, and leads the clinical team in providing exceptional care experiences
  • Coordinates the Community’s infection control program while maintaining state regulatory compliance
  • Develop and oversee the Community’s medication management program
  • Contributes toward quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
  • Complies with all rules and regulations regarding confidentiality and privacy of resident information
