About The Position

The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for organizing and administering the facility’s nursing services including establishing goals, developing policies and procedures, and ensuring adequate numbers and qualifications of staff are available to perform nursing services. The Director of Nursing is responsible for the Infection Control (IC) program for the facility, including developing policies, establishing types of surveillance and criteria, collecting data, and implementing educational and/or corrective measures as needed. This role requires familiarity with legal and ethical aspects of health care services, the ability to direct and instruct employees in duties, techniques, and principles, and the capacity to maintain a good working relationship with other departments. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus based on department and facility performance.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in a progressively responsible management and leadership role in either a hospital, residential treatment center, or acute care hospital
  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Tennessee
  • Minimum Associate of Science in Nursing
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of behavioral health nursing clinical practices and management
  • Extensive knowledge of principles and practices relevant to nursing and patient care activities
  • Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others’ activities
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Nursing preferred
