The Director of Nursing oversees the administration of nursing services in accordance with current Federal, State, and Local standards, guidelines, and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. This role supports best practices and objectives, and participates in their revision as necessary to ensure the provision of the highest quality of care to all residents. The Director of Nursing develops short and long-range planning for the nursing function, ensuring that nursing interventions meet each resident's personal, physical, and cognitive needs and maximize their self-care capacities, identity, independence, choice, and opportunity for social interaction. This role participates in admission decisions to ensure resident needs can be met by facility nursing capabilities. Additionally, the Director of Nursing ensures a safe and sanitary environment for residents, employees, and visitors through oversight of safety and maintenance functions. They are responsible for ensuring treatments are administered appropriately by subordinates, and consults with subordinates to ensure that medications and supplies are stored and controlled properly, maintaining an adequate stock level of medications, medical supplies, and equipment on-premises at all times. Other tasks may be assigned.
