About The Position

The Resource Recovery Center of Orange County is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to those suffering from Alcohol and Substance Use Disorders. Substance Use Disorders are chronic illnesses, and treatment provided is based upon the presenting needs of the individual. Our goal is to help individuals and families begin the physical, emotional and spiritual healing process by utilizing compassionate, encouraging and evidence-based practices. We ultimately strive to guide individuals, and their families, towards a goal of living life to its full potential-free from addiction. We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of Nursing. The Director of Nursing manages and coordinates service activities of professional nursing and auxiliary nursing personnel. Interprets facility policies and regulations to nursing personnel and ensures personnel compliance, analyzes and evaluates nursing and related services to improve quality of patient care to better utilize staff time and abilities, and writes policies and ensures regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or diploma from qualified nursing school
  • Current State of NY license
  • Registered Nurse in the State of NY
  • Current basic life support for health provider (BLS) and CPR/First Aid and AED
  • Knowledge of Substance Abuse Treatment
  • Four (4) years of experience working in the substance abuse treatment
  • Three (3) years of nurse manager, supervisory and/or director experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the 24-hour management of the Nursing Department and assuring that the daily tasks of the Nursing Department are carried out in accordance with facility policy and in compliance with State, Federal Regulations, and JCAHO or CARF Accreditation Standards.
  • Consult with CEO and Medical Director on a routine basis in support of organizational mission and vision.
  • Maintain licensures of the facility (DEA).
  • Create and implement policies and procedures for the nursing department.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate all nursing staff.
  • Interview all new nursing candidates for hire.
  • Orient all new nursing personnel on unit/shift.
  • Arrange for adequate staffing on unit/shift.
  • Take every opportunity to supervise, educate those registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and document it in their files.
  • Formally discipline those employees failing in any aspect of their job description.
  • Create an objective, time specific, correction plan that the employee can understand and follow.
  • Support and promote an environment and culture of professional nursing behaviors at all times across the organization.
  • Monitor and evaluate all nursing activities including staff development, risk and safety management, compliance with regulatory standards, policy and procedure development/implementation and performance improvement activities.
  • Develop and maintain staff nurse training and education materials on an ongoing basis.
  • Coordinate services with the pharmacy.
  • Ensure nursing practices utilize evidence-based practice, regulations and performance improvement to guide clinical decision making related to existing and future program implementation.
  • Conduct and/or contribute to staff evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with department heads.
  • Comply with all confidentiality and client rights, standards and policies.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of electronic health record to be a source of help/information for providers and supervisors
