About The Position

Advanced Recovery Systems is a physician-led behavioral healthcare company focused on providing evidence-based care for addiction and mental health conditions. The Director of Nursing will lead the Nursing/Health Services Department, ensuring high-quality nursing care for patients with psychiatric problems, including chemical dependency, substance use disorder treatment, addiction recovery, mental health, and behavioral health. This role involves collaborating with the facility leadership team to achieve overall facility success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; BSN preferred.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in nursing field with emphasis in psychiatric, substance abuse, or eating disorders required.
  • Registered Nurse in the State of licensure, active and in good standing required.
  • CPR Certification required.

  • Experience in Nursing Leadership within a Residential or Inpatient treatment environment.

Responsibilities

  • Directs all day-to-day operations of the Nursing/Health Services Department and staff.
  • Ensures the delivery of quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients.
  • Defines and maintains the standards of nursing practices.
  • Assesses the quality of care rendered.
  • Initiates the development of policies and procedures that govern nursing services and ensures they are current and reflect regulatory standards.
  • Responsible for staff performance, recruitment, retention, and development for all nursing/health services department personnel.
  • Collaborates with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services for improved patient care and staff development.
  • Serves as a key member of the facility’s core management team and ensures effective integration of nursing services into overall operations.
  • Oversees nursing staffing levels within the facility on all shifts to ensure quality patient care, understanding and incorporating staffing grids and flex staffing techniques.
  • Collaborates with the Infection Control Nurse to incorporate infection control policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the pharmacy and laboratory services.
  • Oversees the facility’s patient rights program and ensures patients are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Ensures department’s budgetary guidelines are maintained and monitors expenditures.
  • Provides direct nursing services including completing admission documents, maintaining medical records, administering medications, monitoring detoxification, transcribing physician orders, implementing medical protocols, conferring with medical personnel, documenting services, assessing patient needs, communicating patient health concerns, and educating patients.
  • Demonstrates ability to take, document, and carry out verbal orders from the medical provider.
  • Participates in facility meetings as required.
  • Keeps abreast of nursing care issues, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates in training and development to enhance own professional skills and growth.
  • Attends in-service training and participates in other educational activities as required.
  • Actively participates and adheres to regulatory, licensing and accreditation standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
