About The Position

Compassion Behavioral Health is a leading behavioral health organization with two facilities providing a full continuum of care, including detoxification, IIP and residential treatment (RTC), as well as partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) services. Our mission is to deliver comprehensive, compassionate care within a supportive and therapeutic environment that promotes lasting recovery. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing to lead our medical department and uphold the highest standards of clinical excellence throughout all levels of care.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in Florida
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Experience in a residential mental health or behavioral health setting is required.
  • Knowledge of ACHA, The Joint Commission, and DCF requirements.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.

  • MSN or advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to the medical team, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Oversee all nursing functions, including medication management, patient assessments, and care plans.
  • Support the Medical Director in medical operations and collaborate on clinical decisions.
  • Manage scheduling for the nurses and providers to ensure adequate coverage at all time.
  • Participate in the pre-admission process, including approval of new admissions when needed, ensuring appropriate care planning for new patients.
  • Develop and maintain nursing policies, procedures, and protocols in compliance with state, federal, and facility regulations.
  • Manage inventory and vendors in the medical department, including medication inventory for the CBH pharmacy, ensuring proper stock levels and regulatory compliance.
  • Liaise with the lab to coordinate lab orders, results, and follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with other departments (therapy, medical, case management) as an inter-disciplinary team member to ensure comprehensive care coordination.
  • Hire, train, and evaluate nursing staff, promoting continuous professional development.
  • Ensure that all documentation and patient records are accurate, complete, and compliant with standards.
  • Address any patient or family concerns related to nursing care in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure that the facility maintains compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations, including Joint Commission and ACHA.
  • Coordinate and lead quality improvement initiatives within the medical department.
  • Manage the medical department budget, including staffing and resource allocation.
  • Be on call 24/7 to respond to medical emergencies or urgent matters.
