About The Position

Clark Retirement is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to lead our nursing team and ensure the highest standards of clinical care. This role provides strategic and operational leadership in a dynamic healthcare environment, with a focus on quality outcomes, staff development, and resident-centered care. Clark is a life plan community with a continuum of care that includes Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing. The DON will be responsible and accountable for the overall management of the Nursing Department at the Franklin Campus. The DON performs all essential duties using independent judgment and discretion to implement regulations and policy.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a supervisor in a long term care facility, hospital, or other related health care facility
  • Experience in geriatric and rehabilitative nursing practices
  • Detail oriented, organized, and demonstrates time management
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and in written communications
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
  • Demonstrates success in staff supervision and team management
  • Proficient with commonly used computer programs (Outlook, Microsoft Teams) and electronic charting system (PointClickCare)

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the nursing services, in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern long-term care.
  • Ensures delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision.
  • Monitors care to ensure that residents are treated with kindness, dignity and respect.
  • Participate in surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies.
  • Reports and investigates all allegations of resident abuse, neglect, misappropriation and injuries of unknown origin.
  • Develops, maintains and implements nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, facility philosophy, and operational polices while maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Participates in admission process.
  • Facilitates and or leads daily or weekly team meetings/huddles to discuss resident status, census changes, personnel, or resident complaints or concerns.
  • Participates in the hiring and recruitment process in partnership with Human Resources
  • Directs and assists with the evaluation of the work performance of all nursing personnel, and provides coaching assistance as needed.
  • Collaborates with physicians and physician extenders to ensure medical services are delivered to residents in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Assists with the development of in-service training programs.
