About The Position

St. Camillus is seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our skilled nursing clinical team. This key leadership position oversees nursing operations, medical records, regulatory compliance, quality improvement initiatives, and the delivery of exceptional resident-centered care. The Director of Nursing partners closely with organizational leadership to ensure clinical excellence, positive survey outcomes, staff development, and outstanding resident experiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical management experience or two (2) years of Director of Nursing experience in a skilled nursing setting.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams in a long-term care or skilled nursing environment.
  • Strong understanding of nursing administration, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic clinical documentation systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) license.
  • Proven record of positive survey results and improved clinical quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for Nursing Services and Medical Records.
  • Direct and support nursing leadership staff, including RN Nurse Managers, RN Supervisors, Health Unit Coordinators, and Medical Records personnel.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based nursing care throughout the skilled nursing community.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and use data-driven decision-making to improve resident outcomes.
  • Guide the organization through state and federal surveys and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor nursing leaders to strengthen clinical expertise and leadership effectiveness.
  • Partner with Human Resources and executive leadership to recruit, retain, and develop a highly qualified nursing team.
  • Support staff education and professional development programs.
  • Assist with departmental budgeting, resource allocation, and expense management.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, communication, and resident-centered care.
  • Provide nursing administrative leadership and maintain 24-hour nursing oversight through on-call responsibilities.
