Director of Nursing (DON)
About The Position
The Director of Nursing (DON) at Heritage Woods of Flora is responsible for conducting initial assessments of prospective residents, performing wellness assessments, and developing individualized care plans. This role involves delivering health promotion services, disease prevention counseling, and self-care education. The DON will foster communication with physicians, healthcare providers, and family members, and will be responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, and leading the clinical team. Additionally, the DON will coordinate the Community’s infection control program, oversee the medication management program, and contribute to quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives, all while ensuring compliance with confidentiality and privacy regulations.
Requirements
- Maintains current state nursing licensure. LPN required, RN preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years nursing supervisory experience
- Prior senior/supportive living experience strongly preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the readiness to mentor, motivate, and inspire team members
- Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to serve with love, compassion, and dignity
Responsibilities
- Conducts initial assessment of prospective residents, including off-site visits
- Performs wellness assessments and develops individualized care plans based on the needs and preferences of each resident
- Delivers health promotion services, offers disease prevention counseling, and provides self-care education to residents
- Engages with residents and family members in a compassionate and impactful manner, creating a lasting and positive experience
- Fosters communication by regularly engaging with physicians, pertinent healthcare providers, and family members
- Hires, trains, schedules, and leads the clinical team in providing exceptional care experiences
- Coordinates the Community’s infection control program while maintaining state regulatory compliance
- Develop and oversee the Community’s medication management program
- Contributes toward quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
- Complies with all rules and regulations regarding confidentiality and privacy of resident information
