About The Position

Diamond House Detox & Recovery is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and dynamic Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the daily operations of our nursing services across multiple behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment programs. Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the DON plays a critical leadership role in ensuring exceptional client care, regulatory excellence, staff development, and operational consistency across our organization. Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience.
  • At least two (2) years of nursing leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral health, detoxification services, medication management, and nursing operations.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and survey readiness.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, residential treatment, psychiatric care, or detoxification.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary healthcare teams across multiple locations.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, CARF, and DHCS regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of nursing services across multiple treatment locations.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop Nurse Managers and Behavioral Health Nurses.
  • Ensure safe, high-quality, client-centered nursing care.
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, medication management, and nursing documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with DHCS, Title 9, Joint Commission, CARF, HIPAA, DEA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, nursing audits, and survey readiness activities.
  • Partner with the CNO to implement nursing initiatives, policies, and clinical best practices.
  • Recruit, onboard, coach, and retain exceptional nursing staff.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with medical providers, therapists, counselors, admissions, operations, compliance, and executive leadership to ensure seamless client care.
