About The Position
The Director of Nursing leads nursing services at a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Newark, Ohio. This hands-on clinical leadership role oversees the nursing department’s daily operations and supports safe, high-quality, resident-centered care. The Director of Nursing leads and develops the clinical team, promotes regulatory compliance and resident safety, and works collaboratively with facility leaders, residents, and families to improve care delivery.
Requirements
- Current, active Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Strong knowledge of nursing standards, CMS regulations, and Ohio long-term care requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership, staff management, and clinical decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to resident dignity, safety, and quality of care.
Nice To Haves
- Previous Director of Nursing experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily clinical operations of the nursing department to ensure safe, high-quality, resident-centered care.
- Lead, mentor, and support Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
- Develop staffing plans and monitor nursing schedules to maintain appropriate coverage.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, CMS requirements, and Ohio Department of Health standards.
- Monitor clinical outcomes, quality measures, infection prevention, and resident safety.
- Oversee resident assessments, individualized care plans, and accurate clinical documentation.
- Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Administrator, Medical Director, department heads, residents, and families to address concerns and improve care delivery.
- Promote staff accountability, professional development, teamwork, and a positive workplace culture.
- Prepare for regulatory surveys and help implement corrective action plans when needed.
