Director of Nursing (DON) - Psych Facility
About The Position
Albany Care, a Specialized Mental Health Rehabilitation Facility (SMHRF) in Evanston, Illinois, is hiring a Director of Nursing (DON). The DON will lead clinical nursing operations at a 24-hour residential facility dedicated to the treatment and recovery of individuals affected by chronic psychiatric disorders. Albany Care treats conditions including schizo-affective disorder, major depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia in a residential, home-like setting. The role calls for an organized, empathetic leader who sets clear expectations and objectives and is committed to excellent psychiatric patient care and professional development. The position requires an Illinois-licensed LPN or RN and psychiatric nursing experience. Salary is $115,000–$125,000, depending on qualifications, plus benefits.
Requirements
- Current LPN or RN license in Illinois.
- Psychiatric nursing experience.
- Nursing experience in a residential mental health setting.
- Supervisory experience.
- Previous hospital and/or long-term care facility experience.
- At least two years of Director of Nursing experience.
Nice To Haves
- Director of Nursing experience in a psychiatric facility is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Direct staff and collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to support residents and their families.
- Supervise staff scheduling to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Interview and hire clinical staff.
- Assist with monthly audits of sample EMR charting.
- Review admissions and referrals and assist with interviewing and selecting residents for admission, subject to the Executive Director's approval.
- Chair the Quality Assurance Committee and other committees as required by regulations or appointed by the Executive Director.
- Prepare clinical nursing reports for quarterly Quality Assurance meetings.
- Prepare Performance Improvement reports as required by JCAHO guidelines.
- Supervise the MDS/Care Plan Coordinator to ensure MDS forms are completed accurately and on time.
