About The Position

The Director of Nursing (DON) / Resident Care Director at Spring Arbor of Severna Park leads clinical operations for the Assisted Living and Memory Care community. This is a leadership role for an experienced RN responsible for clinical excellence and shaping the culture of care. The position involves full clinical oversight, leading and mentoring the nursing and care team, managing resident assessments and service plans, ensuring regulatory compliance, and building relationships with residents, families, and healthcare professionals. The role also includes participation in the Manager on Duty (MOD) rotation and on-call responsibilities.

Requirements

Active RN license in good standing — required
Minimum 2 years of clinical leadership or supervisory experience
Experience with resident assessments, service plans, and regulatory compliance
Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining the highest standard of resident care
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
Minimum two (2) year's experience in Long Term Care, AL, or other equivalent geriatric care with AL training, with demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of the elderly.
At least one (1) year supervisory nursing experience.
Must have a positive Criminal Background Screening.
Licensed RN or LPN in good standing with the state licensing agency, as required by state regulations.

Nice To Haves

3–5 years of nursing experience in senior living, AL, or Memory Care — preferred
Previous experience with computerized resident documentation systems a plus.

Responsibilities

Full clinical oversight across Assisted Living and Memory Care neighborhoods
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing nursing and care team
Complete resident assessments, develop service plans, and coordinate admissions and move-ins
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing AL and Memory Care
Manage staffing, scheduling, labor utilization, and clinical operations
Build strong relationships with residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams
Participate in MOD rotation every 6 weeks and remain available on-call as needed
Oversight of the day-to-day activities in Assisted Living (AL), including resident services, associate management, general administration, and physical maintenance
Provision of excellent resident services in accordance with all applicable law and regulations to achieve a deficiency-free survey
Maintain excellent service, high occupancy, and high resident and associate satisfaction
Create an individualized service plan for each resident in AL with input from Resident Assistants, updating per policy and as needed
Ensure the team maintains current knowledge of residents' activities of daily living (ADL) needs and requirements
Identify the ongoing needs of residents to maintain the highest level of wellbeing
Ensure appropriate staffing levels through effective scheduling and maintain department staffing schedules utilizing the electronic payroll system
Work closely and maintain daily communications with the Assistant Resident Care Director and/or Program Director for Memory Care in administering and managing the Department, thereby ensuring continuity of care and services for the residents
Communicate with families, residents, and appropriate health care providers regarding areas of concern and collaborate to find solutions
