About The Position

Spring Arbor of Wilmington is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (Resident Care Director) to lead clinical operations across our Assisted Living community. This is a role for a nurse leader who's ready to step beyond the bedside and into a position where your clinical judgment, leadership, and compassion directly shape the quality of life for every resident in our care. The Resident Care Director (RCD) is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day activities in Assisted Living (AL), including resident services, associate management, general administration, and physical maintenance. Provision of excellent resident services in accordance with all applicable law and regulations to achieve a deficiency-free survey is essential. The RCD must maintain excellent service, high occupancy, and high resident and associate satisfaction in alignment with the goal of the Community.

Requirements

  • Active LPN or RN license in good standing with the NC state licensing agency
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Long Term Care, Assisted Living, or equivalent geriatric care, with AL-specific training
  • At least 1 year of supervisory nursing experience
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of the elderly and a genuine passion for senior care
  • Strong leadership instincts and the ability to lead confidently in a people-first environment
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must have a positive Criminal Background Screening.
  • Licensed RN or LPN in good standing with the state licensing agency, as required by state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical oversight and leadership across our Assisted Living neighborhood
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing and care staff to deliver exceptional, person-centered care
  • Ensure compliance with state licensing, regulatory, and clinical care standards
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized resident care plans
  • Collaborate with families, physicians, and healthcare providers to ensure exceptional outcomes
  • Leverage computerized resident documentation systems to maintain accurate, timely records
  • Available on-call as needed to support your team and ensure continuity of care
  • Partner with the broader leadership team to drive quality outcomes and community excellence
  • Create an individualized service plan for each resident in AL with input from Resident Assistants, updating per policy and as needed.
  • Ensure the team maintains current knowledge of residents' activities of daily living (ADL) needs and requirements.
  • Identify the ongoing needs of residents to maintain the highest level of wellbeing.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels through effective scheduling and maintain department staffing schedules utilizing the electronic payroll system.
  • Work closely and maintain daily communications with the Assistant Resident Care Director and/or Program Director for Memory Care in administering and managing the Department, thereby ensuring continuity of care and services for the residents.
  • Communicate with families, residents, and appropriate health care providers regarding areas of concern and collaborate to find solutions.
