About The Position

River's Bend Retirement Community is hiring a Director of Nursing Services (DON) to lead our clinical team. RBRC is a 40-bed skilled nursing facility with a focus on short-stay residents. The Director of Nursing Services is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing the nursing department to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care across the organization. This role involves strategic planning, policy development, and operational management to align nursing services with the institution’s goals and regulatory requirements. The Director will lead, mentor, and develop nursing staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professional growth, and patient safety. They will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to optimize clinical outcomes and enhance patient satisfaction. Ultimately, the Director of Nursing Services ensures that nursing practices meet the highest standards of care while efficiently managing resources and budgets.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the United States.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or higher.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive nursing experience, including at least 1 year in a leadership or management role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and nursing best practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Leadership and management skills to guide nursing teams and ensure operational excellence
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, resolving conflicts, and advocating for patient care needs
  • Analytical skills to interpret quality metrics, budget reports, and staffing data to make informed decisions
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and clinical best practices ensures compliance and promotes high standards of care
  • Proficiency with healthcare technology and data systems supports efficient workflow management and continuous improvement effort

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Certification in Nursing Leadership or Administration (e.g., NEA-BC, CNML).
  • Experience working in a multi-facility healthcare system or large hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and healthcare data analytics.
  • Experience in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation requirements.
  • Lead, supervise, and evaluate nursing staff performance, providing coaching and professional development opportunities.
  • Manage nursing budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocation to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with medical staff, administration, and other departments to coordinate patient care and improve clinical outcomes.
  • Monitor patient care quality indicators and implement improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and satisfaction.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination among nursing teams and other healthcare professionals.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to maintain a skilled and motivated nursing workforce.
  • Stay current with advancements in nursing practice, healthcare technology, and regulatory changes to inform departmental strategies.
