The Director of Nursing Services (RN) is responsible for developing a written plan of care for each resident, implementing and maintaining an ongoing quality assurance program for the nursing department, and monitoring the facility’s QI, QM and survey reports. This role also involves assisting in the planning, scheduling, and revising of the MDS, including the implementation of CAAs and Triggers. The Director of Nursing Services will review and revise care plans and assessments, ensuring all personnel are aware of the resident’s care plan. They will develop methods for coordination of nursing services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of the resident’s total regimen of care. Additionally, this position participates in and develops reviews of discharge plans, prepares reports for the Care Plan Committee, and monitors nursing care to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures. The Director of Nursing Services determines staffing needs and work assignments, provides leadership training, and offers direct nursing care as necessary. This role also involves preparing and operating under the nursing department budget, participating in state and federal surveys, and attending continuing education programs.
