This role is for a Director of Nursing - Outpatient Surgery at our Los Angeles, Care center. The position involves working alongside the Facility Administrator to manage nursing staff and schedules. Requirements

CA RN license
3+ years of acute-care, procedural, PACU, ED, ICU, OR, cath lab, endoscopy, or ambulatory-surgery experience
Leadership experience
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (R.N.)
Current appropriate state licensure
ACLS certification
Minimum of three years' experience preferred in an Ambulatory Surgical Center/Vascular Access Lab, or a combination of ASC, surgical, Interventional Radiology and ICU/CCU experience.
Minimum of three years of Interventional Radiology, scrub experience preferred.
Proficiency with the Microsoft office suite
Experience with Medical database software.
Demonstrated management skills necessary to provide leadership and supervision of facility personnel and to ensure the delivery of maximum quality care to all patients.
Good communication skills - verbal and written.
Certified in BLS & ACLS successfully completed course certifications.

Nice To Haves

ASC certification preferred
Supervisory or management experience within a medical or vascular access environment preferred.

Responsibilities

Supporting and driving Organization quality standards through meeting regulatory requirements and the practice of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).
Ensuring outstanding quality of patient care by working with management to ensure policies and procedures are followed.
Aggressively addressing and acting on adverse events and action thresholds.
Complying with all data collections and auditing activities and maintaining the integrity of medical records and other administrative/operational records.
Supervising and directing facility staff in providing safe and effective vascular access procedures.
Assigning and delegating tasks to direct patient care staff, including Staff RNs, Radiology Technologists, and Front Desk Coordinators.
Ensuring adequate staffing through daily management of staff's schedule, including breaks.
Assessing daily patient needs and developing/distributing patient care assignments appropriately.
Routinely monitoring patient care staff for appropriate techniques and adherence to facility policy and procedures, and assisting as necessary.
Recommending and initiating disciplinary action in conjunction with the Facility Manager.
Assisting Facility Manager with staff performance evaluations.
Participating in selection, orientation, and training of staff as assigned.
Performing and setting up in-services regarding equipment, supplies, and clinical topics for all staff.
Coordinating all aspects of patient care with appropriate staff members, from admission through discharge.
Ensuring patients and their families are educated regarding pre- and post-procedure care of vascular access.
Ensuring patient procedures are scheduled in a timely manner and facility capacity is utilized efficiently.
Assisting with patient workflow as needed, including providing direct patient care and monitoring pre-, intra-, and post-procedure.
Overseeing and ensuring accurate and complete documentation of patient treatments from admission to discharge.
Confirming written orders, consents, and lab work are completed and documented in accordance with facility policies.
Assuming primary responsibility in an emergency situation and maintaining competency with all emergency operational procedures, including initiating CPR and emergency measures as needed.
Administering medications and IV conscious sedation to patients as directed per physician's orders and in compliance with regulations.
Attending and participating in Governing Body and CQI meetings with physicians, assisting with meeting agendas and gathering data/material for meetings and reporting on assigned topics.
Ensuring appropriate operation of facility equipment and technology.
Maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the facility at all times through regular inspection of equipment and operation systems, reporting any malfunctions or maintenance issues.
Ensuring all blood spills are immediately addressed according to the organization Bloodborne Pathogen Control Policies.
Participating in cost control initiatives.
Responsible for efficient utilization of medication, laboratory, inventory, supplies, and equipment to achieve supply cost goals.
Assisting in the development and revision of applicable policies and procedures for the facility.
Initiating, documenting, and completing ongoing Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities including monthly reports and attending meetings as required.
Managing medications, including ordering, receiving, inventory control, and checking for expired medications, including appropriate recording of controlled substances.
Overseeing maintenance of usage logs for all medications with appropriate documentation, as well as records of drug disposal.
Communicating with the pharmacist to assure medication accuracy.
Ensuring medical records are accurate, complete, and in compliance with organization policies and procedures prior to patient discharge.
Performing chart audits on a regular basis.
Participating in all facility regulatory and accreditation surveys and action plans to address any deficiencies identified.
Verifying records for all implanted devices are completed accurately, timely, and maintained according to records management guidelines.
Acting as the Facility Manager in the absence of the manager or at the direction of organization management.
Appointed Governing Body positions, taking on primary role of certain positions or overseeing staff delegated to positions.
Complying with HIPPA policies and standards regarding patient information and medical records.
Maintaining CLIA license with Facility Administrator.
Other duties as assigned, within the scope of practice and state regulations.
