About The Position

The Director of Nursing in Training (DIT) program at Regency Integrated Health Services offers on-the-job training for Registered Nurses and/or those in a DON in Training position. DITs work under the supervision of a Director of Nursing in a skilled nursing facility. They will be precepted on skills necessary for resident quality care, focusing on promoting the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychological well-being of each resident, as determined by resident assessments and individual plans of care. This role involves interdisciplinary collaboration in developing care plans, overseeing and coordinating nursing staff to ensure proper resident care aligned with standard nursing practices, and staying current with all resident care regulations. The DIT will communicate with physicians and the medical director on resident care issues, ensure appropriate medications, treatments, and nursing services are provided according to care plans and physician orders, and maintain compliance with state/federal regulations and company standards. Direct care and procedures may be performed as needed, even if staff are not qualified or licensed for them. Responsibilities include developing and verifying the implementation of Plans of Care (POCs), attending QAPI meetings, reviewing regulatory reports (2567, Quality Monitoring reports, Quality Measures), resident clinical records, facility reports (QA reports, 5 Star reports), and consultant reports with feedback on POCs. The DIT will also communicate and coordinate with physicians, discharge planners, and other healthcare facility representatives regarding resident admissions, transfers, and discharges. They will communicate with and supervise nursing personnel regarding professional conduct and provide job performance counseling. Training for relevant facility staff will be provided, and the DIT will use diplomacy and firmness in resolving disputes or complaints concerning nursing personnel, residents, or families, in conjunction with the Administrator.

Requirements

  • A Registered Nurse License is Required
  • Must reside in Texas
  • Must have the ability to relocate in Texas based on assignment and company needs

Responsibilities

  • Oversee/direct/coordinate nursing staff to provide proper resident care consistent with standard nursing practices
  • Keep current with the changes in all regulations related to resident care
  • Communicate with attending physician and medical director regarding resident care issues as needed
  • Assure provision of appropriate medication, treatments and nursing services according to care plans and physician’s instructions
  • Assure compliance with state/federal regulations and company standards
  • Perform direct care/procedures when needed; such may include procedures for which the staff is not qualified or licensed to perform
  • Develop and verify the implementation of POCs
  • Attend QAPI meetings
  • Review any/all regulatory reports (2567, Quality Monitoring reports, Quality Measures, etc.)
  • Review resident clinical records
  • Review facility reports (facility QA reports and 5 Star reports, etc.)
  • Review consultant reports and provide feedback on any POC
  • Communicate and coordinate with physicians, discharge planners or appropriate facility representatives from health care facilities regarding resident admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed
  • Communicate and supervise nursing personnel with respect to professional conduct and counsel employees about job performance as needed
  • Provide training to the pertinent facility staff
  • Use diplomacy but firmness in settling any disputes, complaints, etc. concerning nursing personnel or residents or families in conjunction with the Administrator
