About The Position

Join the team as a day shift, full-time, Emergency Services Director of Nursing in Roswell, NM. The ideal candidate will have experience in Emergency Department (free-standing is acceptable) nursing leadership, hospital growth or expansion projects, change management and operational improvement, team leadership in busy community hospital EDs, and maintaining quality and patient flow in a high-volume, non-trauma emergency department. The Emergency Department is smaller but high-volume, with approximately 15,000 patient visits annually. It serves as a primary emergency care hub for the Roswell community. The department is not a designated trauma center but manages a high volume of urgent care and emergency cases. The current capacity is 3 emergency treatment beds and 5 overflow treatment spaces. A major ED expansion project has started, which will increase capacity from 3 treatment rooms to 9 rooms. The Director of Nursing will play a key leadership role in planning, implementing, and managing this expansion. The nurse director is a professional registered nurse with twenty-four-hour responsibility for assigned departments within established standards to achieve the mission and vision of the organization. The nursing director is responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit/departments and executes supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. The nurse director provides leadership and mentorship in the development of leaders and staff. The nurse director is responsible for monitoring and evaluating quality, patient satisfaction, and employee satisfaction outcomes to implement strategies for improvement. The nurse director is a change agent and will establish strong collaborative relationships with physicians. Responsible for overall administrative, financial, and clinical activities of assigned departments.

Requirements

Bachelor’s in nursing from an accredited school of nursing required. If applicant does not have a BSN – must be enrolled in accredited BSN program with scheduled date of completion.
Current RN license or current license deemed acceptable by the applicable State Board of Nursing.

Nice To Haves

3 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare
Master’s degree in nursing and/or related field
Certification in clinical specialty or nursing administration
Experience in Emergency Department (free-standing is acceptable) nursing leadership.
Experience with hospital growth or expansion projects.
