About The Position

As the Director, New Gym Openings, you will lead and oversee the team of New Gym Openings Managers responsible for facilitating, instructing, and providing guidance to club leaders and operations throughout every stage of new gym openings. You will set the strategic direction and operational standards for every new gym launch, ensure your team of Managers executes consistently against those standards, and personally lead the highest-priority or most complex openings. Your primary goal is to achieve profitable outcomes across a portfolio of concurrent gym openings, from pre-sale through 90 days post-opening, while building a high-performing team of Managers who can independently deliver successful launches.

Requirements

Minimum of 5-7 years of sales and/or marketing experience, including experience managing a team
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the fitness industry
Willingness to travel as needed to support Managers, priority openings, and corporate offices
As needed availability on weekends for special events and priority launches
Proven experience managing and developing a team of managers or leaders, ideally in a multi-unit or multi-site environment
Excellent leadership skills, with a track record of coaching, motivating, and developing high-performing teams
Experience setting strategy and standards for large-scale programs, not just executing them
Strong business acumen, including experience managing budgets and reporting results to executive leadership
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities across a portfolio of projects
High energy and enthusiasm with a passion for fitness and new gym openings

Responsibilities

Directly manage, coach, and develop a team of Managers, New Gym Openings, setting clear goals and holding them accountable to performance standards across every stage of the opening process.
Establish and continuously refine the playbook, tools, and best practices Managers use to execute new gym openings, ensuring consistency across all locations.
Review each Manager’s portfolio of active openings, provide guidance on prioritization and resource allocation, and resolve escalations that fall outside a Manager’s authority.
Conduct regular performance reviews and development conversations with Managers, and support hiring, onboarding, and training as the team scales.
Personally lead or co-lead the highest-priority, highest-risk, or most complex gym openings, modeling standards and providing hands-on support where needed.
Guide Managers in organizing events and promotions that attract members during the pre-sale phase, and personally support the highest-visibility launches.
Partner with relevant Directors and executive leadership to align on the promotion of fitness services across the portfolio of new locations.
Own accountability for sales KPIs across all new gym openings, reporting progress and results to executive leadership and driving course-correction on openings that are off-track.
Set the operational standards and timelines Managers use to align club teams on support needs, scheduling, roles, and responsibilities at each stage of a new gym opening.
Partner with the Directors of Group Fitness and Personal Training to ensure programs are ready to launch across the full portfolio of new gyms, escalating and resolving cross-department gaps.
Ensure Managers deliver consistent, high-quality training for operational leadership and gym staff at every new location.
Oversee Managers’ execution of pre-opening checklists, vendor management, and club leadership communication, intervening directly on the most complex or highest-risk openings.
Monitor operational and sales performance across all active and recently opened gyms, ensuring smooth functioning leading up to and after each opening.
Provide oversight of systems and processes across the portfolio, ensuring Managers maintain rigor in pre-opening checklists, club leadership communication, and vendor follow-up.
Serve as a senior mentor and leader to the Managers, New Gym Openings team and club teams, building a culture of accountability, inclusivity, continuous improvement, and high performance.
Ensure consistency in the delivery of Franchisor’s values, mission, and member experience across every new location and every Manager’s portfolio.
Represent new gym openings as a brand ambassador to executive leadership, franchise partners, and the broader organization, strengthening Franchisor’s reputation and customer loyalty.
