About The Position

The candidate will provide music director and accompanist services at the chapel located on Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans. This role involves providing musical direction and accompaniment for both Protestant and Roman Catholic worship services, utilizing chapel equipment when necessary. The Director of Music/Accompanist will also coordinate with chaplains regarding music selection and lead the musical program for both denominations.

Requirements

• Must be a musician with the requisite skills and experience acceptable to lead a variety of religious worship services.
• Ability to sight-read music.
• Ability to play worship/praise music on a piano.
• Ability to direct other musicians and vocalists in four-part musical scores.
• Must dress in modest business casual attire when providing support and in public areas.
• Must exercise good hygiene, be neat, clean, and well-groomed.

Responsibilities

• Provide musical direction for both Protestant and Roman Catholic worship services.
• Accompaniment for the rendition of music required during worship services, including prelude music, calls to worship, congregational singing, offertories, postludes, and other music as required.
• Coordinate and consult with the officiating chaplain or CRMP concerning the selection of all choral selections, choruses, hymns, and other music utilized in the worship service.
• Provide piano accompaniment for Sunday Protestant Services (1-hour duration each).
• Provide piano accompaniment for Sunday Catholic Worship Services (1-hour duration each).
• Provide leadership, direction, and administration for the Catholic and Protestant musical program.
