About The Position

The Director of Medical Service provides strategic and operational leadership to the medical services team within a community mental health environment. This role ensures high-quality, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented care is delivered across all clinical programs. The Director oversees staffing, compliance, clinical protocols, and interdisciplinary collaboration to support the on-going needs of CRCs consumers, staff, collaborators, and fiscal responsibility. . The Director plays a key role in workforce development, quality improvement, and aligning medica services practices with organizational goals and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Colorado.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in behavioral health or community-based settings.
  • At least 2–3 years of supervisory or management experience in a healthcare or behavioral health environment.
  • Regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and keyboard.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Light to moderate lifting is required.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of medical services teams across all clinical sites.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor clinical protocols and procedures to ensure safe, effective care.
  • Provides direct, and indirect consumer care daily.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards (e.g., HIPAA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management of assigned staff.
  • Collaborate with behavioral health providers, case managers, and leadership to support care delivery.
  • Monitor and improve clinical quality metrics, documentation standards, and patient outcomes.
  • Manage inventory and administration of medications, including psychotropic and injectable treatments.
  • Respond to clinical emergencies and provide guidance on crisis intervention protocols.
  • Support health equity initiatives and culturally responsive care practices.
  • Participate in strategic planning and budgeting.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess and align departmental capacity with organizational goals.
  • Proactively identifies service demands and allocates resources to ensure optimal performance and sustainability.
  • Balances short-term needs with long-term planning to support growth and impact.
  • Collaborates across teams to address gaps and maximize efficiency.
  • Maintains a clear understanding of staffing, workload, and infrastructure requirements
  • Lead by example to inspire trust and foster a positive team culture.
  • Guide, mentor, and empower team members to maximize their potential, providing ongoing support and feedback for continuous growth.

  • Leads assigned projects with full ownership and strategic oversight, from initiation through completion.
  • Develops comprehensive project charters, identifies and mobilizes cross-functional project teams, and manages timelines, deliverables, and resource allocation.
  • Exercises sound judgment and autonomy in decision-making, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Prepares next-step recommendations for executive review and monitors outcomes post-launch to ensure sustainability and impact.

  • Additionally, is responsible for accurately and effectively conveying agency decisions and directives from Executive and Senior Leadership to Program Leadership and agency staff, ensuring clarity, accountability, and organizational cohesion.
  • Accountable for the performance of programs and staff within the division, with director-level success measured by overall division outcomes.
  • Proactively monitors and analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess effectiveness, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Leads efforts to streamline workflows and implement best practices that enhance operational excellence.
  • Uses subject matter expertise to foster innovation and team alignment.
  • Additionally, serves as a key conduit for organizational communication—responsible for accurately and effectively conveying executive and senior leadership decisions and directives to program managers and frontline staff.
  • Serve as a role model for a collaborative, team-oriented approach across all organizational levels, consistently demonstrating compliance with agency policies, the employee handbook, and promoting positive communication.
  • Evaluate and align daily operations with the agency's mission of "enhancing the health of our community," while upholding the strategic pillars of Consumers, Collaborators, Staff, and Fiscal Responsibility in all decision-making and actions.
