Assumes primary responsibility for overseeing the design of mechanical systems, including HVAC, and plumbing, for large-scale projects in education, civic, infrastructure, and sustainable energy sectors. Utilizes advanced tools such as Energy Pro, Trace 700, and other similar programs to conduct energy and sustainability analyses, ensuring compliance with NetZero and LEED standards. Leads the development of firm-wide mechanical design standards, incorporating cutting-edge technologies and code updates (Mechanical, Plumbing Codes). Prepares budgets and fee proposals for complex projects, ensuring financial accuracy and alignment with client expectations. Provides mentorship and technical training to a team of 4-6 engineers and designers, fostering expertise in MEP systems and project delivery. Oversees Project Managers to ensure timely completion of mechanical projects within budgetary and quality constraints, performing rigorous QA/QC reviews to maintain code compliance and design integrity. Drives business development by leading client proposals and securing new project opportunities, collaborating with stakeholders to expand the firm's portfolio. Conducts research to integrate innovative mechanical solutions, enhancing project efficiency and sustainability. Will supervise employees, specifically provide training and development of the skills for the employees assigned to the team - does not have the ability to hire or fire. The position involves evaluating and providing recommendations for the people on the team. Up to 10% domestic travel required - Majority of travel will be limited to Southern California and not require an overnight stay. Very seldom (1%) of that travel may be required outside the state of California.
