About The Position

The Director of Materials Management provides strategic and operational leadership for all materials management functions within a food manufacturing and warehouse facility. This role is responsible for inventory planning, warehousing, materials flow, and cross-functional coordination to ensure uninterrupted production, compliance with food safety regulations, and cost-effective operations. The Director exercises independent judgment and decision-making in alignment with company objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex operations.
  • Proficiency with ERP and warehouse management systems.
  • Experience working with or supporting federally funded or USDA-funded programs.
  • Strong proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse workplace.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, SharePoint)
  • Experience with ERP or traceability systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and organizational effectiveness
  • Problem-solving and continuous improvement orientation
  • Willingness to work extended or flexible hours during business peaks

Responsibilities

  • Directs overall material management process flows while collaborating with warehouse teams, including performance management and talent development.
  • Establish departmental goals, policies, and performance metrics aligned with business objectives.
  • Drive a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using warehouse management systems or ERP systems.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies
  • Monitor product traceability and lot tracking requirements.
  • Direct planning and control of raw materials, packaging materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Direct centralized purchasing for all departments including SQF, Maintenance, Office, and Production.
  • Ensure inventory availability to support production schedules while minimizing waste, spoilage, and excess inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable food safety regulations and standards, including FDA, FSMA, GMPs, HACCP, and applicable GFSI schemes (e.g., SQF, BRC).
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to support regulatory inspections, third-party audits, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and recordkeeping related to materials handling and inventory control.
  • Collaborate with Production, Food Safety & Quality, and Finance to align materials strategies with operational and financial goals.
  • Oversee materials budgets, inventory valuation, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Utilize ERP and WMS systems to analyze performance data and support informed decision-making.
  • Sage Implementation: responsible for PO’s and communication of program with team at Snap.
  • Perform related duties as assigned, consistent with organizational objectives and compliance requirements.
