About The Position

Are you a strategic leader with a passion for healthcare operations and supply chain excellence? Boone Memorial Hospital is seeking a dynamic Director of Materials Management to lead and elevate our Materials Department, including Purchasing and Central Services. Job Summary The Director of Materials Management is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and operational performance of the Materials Management Department, including Purchasing and Central Services. Essential Functions As the Director of Materials Management, you will: Develop and implement policies and procedures for procurement, inventory control, receiving, storage, and hospital-wide distribution Provide strategic administrative support including reporting, budgeting, utilization analysis, and capital expenditure management Partner directly with hospital departments to evaluate material specifications and needs Lead contract negotiations and manage vendor relationships (including GPO and non-GPO agreements) Review and approve purchase orders to ensure compliance and cost efficiency Oversee all Central Services operations (excluding sterilization procedures) Solicit proposals from manufacturers and distributors for hospital supplies and equipment (excluding pharmaceuticals and dietary products) Leadership Responsibilities You will directly supervise all employees in: Materials Management Purchasing Central Services You’ll be responsible for building a high-performing, accountable, and service-focused team.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or higher in Business Administration, Economics, or related field (relevant experience may substitute for degree)
  • Minimum 2 years recent experience in purchasing or materials management in a healthcare setting (hospital preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership/management experience
  • Strong knowledge of hospital inventory and purchasing practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3–5 years of recent leadership experience in hospital Materials Management
