About The Position

The primary purpose of your job position is to develop, coordinate, direct, and administer our facility’s marketing and public relations programs and services. This role involves maintaining a current listing of resident care employee phone numbers, planning and executing public relations and marketing programs to increase census and inform the community about the facility's offerings. It also includes developing and maintaining policies regarding resident and employee information privacy, assisting department directors with marketing and public relations strategies, and tracking customer satisfaction. The position requires interpreting facility policies, ensuring accuracy of public information, organizing internal communications, and participating in departmental meetings. Creative support for resident programs, maintaining liaison with families and community leaders, and engaging with the news media are also key aspects. The Director will keep the Administrator informed of relevant media coverage and manage public relations during emergencies. Additionally, the role involves assisting with in-service training, creating a positive and calm environment, adhering to ergonomics policies, preparing and managing a departmental operating budget, serving on committees, and maintaining resident care information confidentiality. The position also involves interpreting resident rights and has supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university, or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years experience in marketing/public relations in a health care setting may be recognized in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Suite products.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, direct, and administer the facility’s marketing and public relations programs and services.
  • Maintain a current listing of all resident care employee phone numbers.
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the facility’s public relations and marketing programs and activities to maintain and increase census and inform the community.
  • Develop and maintain written policies and procedures governing the release of information concerning residents, employees, and/or the facility in accordance with current Privacy Rules and Regulations.
  • Assist department directors in the development and use of marketing and public relations policies and procedures.
  • Establish rapport between departments so that each staff member realizes the importance of their role in marketing and public relations programs.
  • Review the facility’s marketing and public relations policies and procedures at least annually and make changes as necessary.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and tracking of customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Interpret the facility’s policies and procedures governing the release of information to employees, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, etc.
  • Ensure that public information (policy manuals, brochures, information packets, etc.) describing the services provided in the facility is accurate and fully descriptive.
  • Ensure that all employees follow established policies and procedures governing the release of information.
  • Organize and implement continuing internal communications through bulletin boards, house organs, committee meetings, newsletters, brochures, public announces, etc.
  • Schedule and participate in departmental meetings concerning marketing and public relations programs and activities.
  • Provide creative support for activity and social services departments in developing resident programs, publications, etc.
  • Maintain an adequate liaison with families, residents, and community and civic leaders.
  • Participate in community service and civic groups to obtain information and seek support for charitable activities on behalf of the facility.
  • Contact the news media when new programs, promotions, etc., are implemented within the facility that will be beneficial to the facility and community.
  • Keep the Administrator informed of newspaper, radio and television accounts of noteworthy items of general interest that may have an impact on the facility or its regulations.
  • During emergencies, establish a public relations area to assure accurate release of information within established policies.
  • Assist department directors in planning, conducting, and scheduling in-service training classes, on the job training, and orientation programs concerning the facility’s marketing and public relations programs and activities.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.
  • Follow established ergonomics policies and procedures governing lifting techniques, repetitive tasks, and the use of safety equipment and supplies.
  • Prepare a departmental operating budget for approval by the Administrator and allocate resources.
  • Serve on various committees of the facility as directed by the Administrator.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information.
  • Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of information.
  • Interpret resident rights to the resident, family, and staff personnel as necessary or appropriate.
