Director of Marketing

Puppy SphereToronto, ON
CA$110,000 - CA$145,000Remote

About The Position

Puppy Sphere is a high-growth startup redefining the wellness category through puppy therapy. As North America’s original puppy yoga company, we’ve built a community of over 400,000 people and partnered with global brands like the NBA, TikTok, and Google. We are looking for a commercially-minded marketing leader to drive measurable revenue and scalable growth by owning the systems, channels, and strategies that convert awareness into repeat visits and advocacy. This is a player-coach role where you will lead the Marketing team, manage agencies, and build scaling strategies, while also staying hands-on with performance analysis, creative direction, and opportunity identification. We seek someone who is commercially sharp, data-driven, creatively bold, and comfortable taking calculated risks to make the brand bigger and more impactful, avoiding safe and forgettable marketing.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive marketing experience, including experience leading and developing a marketing team.
  • Proven experience leading marketing for a consumer-facing, multi-location, DTC, e-commerce, wellness, hospitality, or experience-led business.
  • Strong commercial understanding of the full customer funnel, including acquisition, conversion, retention, and lifetime value.
  • Strong e-commerce experience, including digital conversion, landing pages, offers, checkout flows, and the path from acquisition through purchase.
  • Broad experience across performance marketing, lifecycle/CRM, brand, content, social, and organic growth.
  • Experience launching or growing multiple markets, locations, or regions.
  • Strong understanding of digital customer journeys and conversion optimization.
  • Experience managing meaningful marketing budgets and making investment decisions based on performance.
  • Significant experience managing external agencies and holding partners accountable for results.
  • Proven people leadership experience, with a strong track record of coaching and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical and commercial instincts, with confidence working directly with CAC, ROAS, conversion, retention, and LTV data.
  • Strong brand and creative instincts, with an understanding of how brand and performance work together.
  • Highly organized and execution-oriented, with strong project management skills and the ability to turn strategy into priorities, manage multiple workstreams, and keep the team focused and accountable.
  • Comfortable moving between strategy and execution. You can build the plan and still get into the work when something isn't performing.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where there is significant opportunity to build and improve.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Marketing Strategy across growth, lifecycle, brand, content, and community.
  • Translate company revenue and growth targets into clear marketing priorities, budgets, and measurable KPIs.

  • Partner closely with the CEO and Leadership Team on company growth, expansion, and commercial priorities.
  • Own the strategy for driving profitable customer acquisition and ticket sales across our markets.
  • Lead paid media, SEO, and other acquisition channels, setting strategy, guiding testing and optimization, and working closely with channel owners to drive CAC, ROAS, conversion, and LTV.
  • Oversee e-commerce performance across the digital customer journey, including landing pages, offers, booking flows, mobile experience, and checkout conversion.
  • Continuously improve the customer journey across landing pages, studio pages, booking flows, offers, mobile, and checkout.

  • Create clear ownership, expectations, and accountability across the function, while keeping multiple projects and workstreams organized and moving forward.
  • Manage external agencies and partners, setting clear expectations and holding them accountable for performance and results.
