About The Position

Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement & External Relations (VPA), the Director of Marketing and Communications plays a key role in shaping and delivering Warner University’s voice and brand across all communication channels. This position is responsible for developing, writing, editing, and managing content for internal and external audiences across print, digital, and social media platforms. The role builds strategic partnerships with campus stakeholders to ensure consistent, engaging, and impactful messaging that supports University enrollment, fundraising, alumni engagement, and public relations goals. Preference will be given to alumni of Warner University and/or individuals who have an exceptionally close connection to the institution and/or community. The successful candidate will both understand and value the cultural role of evangelical Christian higher education, and he or she will understand the importance of Warner University in central Florida and beyond. The candidate must affirm and support the University Statement of Faith, and preference will be given to candidates who have some degree of theological education or experience in Christian education in an orthodox, evangelical context. The selected candidate must be energetic about the University’s goal of distinguishing itself in the higher-education industry through commitment to historic biblical values.

Requirements

  • Excitement about Warner University’s vision, mission, and identity as an institution committed to biblical orthodoxy.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience public speaking.
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience with content management systems.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and basic knowledge of JavaScript and PHP.
  • Familiar with Google Analytics, SEO and SEM best practices, and web accessibility standards.
  • Comfortable training and guiding University partners in content entry and CMS usage.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to lead others in the coordination of projects.
  • The ability to work alone or as a member of a team.
  • An energetic and relational disposition that puts others at ease.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage an annual, multi-year marketing and communication plan that aligns with the University’s strategic goals including Advancement, Admissions, alumni relations, publications, student recruitment and retention, and collaborate with marketing and communication partners in the Department of Athletics.
  • Oversee the University brand identity, ensuring consistent messaging, tone, and graphic standards across all internal and external materials and platforms.
  • Plan and execute, often in collaboration with campus partners, marketing campaigns across a mix of channels, including digital (website, social media, SEO/SEM, email) and traditional advertising (print, publications, press releases, events).
  • Manage the creation of compelling content, including writing, editing, photography, and videography to be used in various promotional materials and digital platforms.
  • Oversee the University’s official website and social media channels, ensuring they are current, engaging, and support strategic goals.
  • In partnership with VPA and Assistant Vice President of Enrollment (AVPE), manage the budgets of marketing initiatives for both Advancement and Admissions, along with vendor relations associated with marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Manage enterprise-wide communications schedule and a fast-paced content calendar.
  • Develop and direct creative execution for consistent, targeted, and impactful messaging across channels for the University.
  • Manage, in collaboration with campus partners, University-wide newsletters and communications, including layout and design, content writing, and building emails in various marketing tools.
  • Design, write, and edit digital, print, and social media communications for external and internal audiences.
  • Oversee content strategy for the University official social media accounts, engaging with audiences in a brand-appropriate manner.
  • Build and maintain solid partnerships with internal University stakeholders to better develop, direct, and facilitate strategic communications designed to meet the University’s relationship building and constituent engagement goals.
  • Conduct interviews and research and deliver strong storytelling and impact reporting.
  • Oversee brand stewardship and consistent use of Warner’s Brand Standard Guide.
  • Write and distribute press releases for the President and the University.
  • Coordinates photography, video, and editing.
  • Analyze and provide reporting on engagement metrics.
  • Coordinate the Warner Office of Communications.
  • Oversee the design and layout of the Royal Magazine/annual report and contributing to the writing and editing of the publication.
  • Collaborate with advancement and alumni staff to produce the quarterly Mane Update newsletter to alumni and friends and the Ministry Report to select churches and partners.
  • Support and attend special events as needed.
  • Collaborate with the AVPE to help create, plan, and execute marketing initiatives related to recruitment (e.g., promote recruitment events, develop digital marketing plans for programs, assist in overall brand development).
  • Lead the ongoing management of the University’s main website to ensure it effectively communicates the University’s brand, supports student recruitment, and enhances users’ experience.
  • Oversee on content strategy, design standards, accessibility, and usability across marketing and communication web pages, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with institutional goals.
  • Provide strategic direction and project prioritization.
  • Manage relationship and tasks with website hosting vendor.
