About The Position

We make an extraordinary product, some might even say they defy gravity! As our Director of Manufacturing, you’ll lead our talented manufacturing team who makes our gravity-defying products and be responsible for the strategic direction and supervision of all aspects of plant operations and manufacturing. You’ll drive continuous improvement throughout the production and manufacturing process, increase capacity, and improve operational effectiveness and efficiency. You’ll make an immediate impact on the overall manufacturing operations by doing the following: Team Leadership Acting as the primary point of contact and leader for all aspects of Gyro Manufacturing, supporting 24/7 operations, in addition to our Packout and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) teams, which include frontline managers, supervisors, and staff Maintaining a positive employee environment, while properly motivating, mentoring, and directing our workforce Strategizing and defining the most ideal staffing plans for the department, working closely with team managers, supervisors and senior leadership Mentoring and developing direct reports to accelerate performance, leadership capability, and career growth Manufacturing Strategy & Analytics Creating and evaluating manufacturing strategies and objectives that align with department budgets, policies, and procedures Providing clear and strong leadership on the future direction of the overall manufacturing department Monitoring the performance of all operations within the department to identify opportunities for improvement and increased efficiency Establishing, maintaining and monitoring standards for product quality, cost, yield, and scrap Maintaining, optimizing, and reporting out on relevant manufacturing metrics, including but not limited to efficiency, quality, cost, safety, and yield Analyzing production and operating reports and resolving operational, manufacturing, and maintenance challenges to ensure minimum loss and prevent operational delays Ensuring compliance with corporate financial, production and inventory reporting procedures for the plant Preparing annual capital expenditure (CapEx) strategy for facility and manufacturing upgrades and equipment life cycle management Reviewing operations and financial performance against annual operating targets Daily Operations & Continuous Improvement Overseeing the implementation and execution of all phases of operations in a manufacturing facility and daily warehouse operations ensuring smooth supply of components to all consumption points in the plant Coordinating manufacturing activities with the operations team to ensure production quantity and quality meet plans and specifications, and that new product or engineering change cut-ins are activated effectively Driving programs to continually reduce manufacturing cycle time and maximize inventory turns Leading efforts to expand plant capabilities, extend value chain, and reduce lead times to customers Establishing a sustainable Continuous Improvement framework across the department to foster an ownership mindset among the workforce improving any areas where we can see future pitfalls – being proactive will serve you well! Safety Culture Champion Fostering a safety-first culture that prioritizes the well-being of all team members Creating key metrics and reports to monitor the health and safety of the facility and continuously Ensuring safety and environmental practices are maintained and all regulatory requirements are met and exceeded Supporting any EH&S inspections, making sure we are current on any compliance and reporting needed to support those inspections, and working closely with OSHA and environmental agencies Facility Optimization Leading our preventative maintenance program for facility and equipment Ensuring all equipment and facilities have the capacity to meet process requirements Managing warehouse layout, material flow and space utilization

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a similarly related field
  • 10+ years of progressive responsibility in management roles in a manufacturing environment
  • Be obsessed with continuous improvement and not afraid to try new things
  • Comfortable working in an industrial plant environment and being hands-on and frequently active on the plant floor
  • Familiar with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Have a start-up mentality and be energized at the idea of wearing multiple hats and holistically managing processes
  • Previously experienced and succeeded in a high-growth environment
  • Ferocious attention to detail and “won’t take no for an answer” attitude
  • Passion for working with people and exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Be professional, responsive, resourceful, flexible and well-organized
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate up and down the chain of command
  • Be self-motivated with superior time management, multitasking, organizational and prioritization skills

  • Strong command of Microsoft Office products
