About The Position

The Director of Manufacturing oversees all production operations within the manufacturing environment, ensuring efficiency, safety, regulatory compliance, and on-time delivery of precision aerospace components. This leader drives operational excellence through strategic planning, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. The role is responsible for managing manufacturing teams, optimizing workflows, and supporting company goals related to cost, quality, and delivery performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in aerospace or defense manufacturing required.
  • Proven track record leading multi shift or multi site production operations.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace production processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies (certification preferred).
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Data driven decision-making and strong analytical capabilities.
  • ERP/MRP proficiency (IQMS, Job Boss, SAP, Oracle, Epicor, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with plastics manufacturing, precision machining, and assembly is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute manufacturing strategies aligned with organizational goals, customer requirements, and growth objectives.
  • Lead day-to-day production operations, ensuring throughput, schedule adherence, and resource optimization.
  • Oversee capacity planning, production forecasting, and long-term manufacturing roadmaps.
  • Ensure alignment between engineering, supply chain, quality, and program management teams.
  • Maintain compliance with aerospace industry standards, such as AS9100, ISO 9001, ITAR, and CMMC requirements.
  • Drive a culture of safety and ensure compliance with state, federal, and environmental regulations.
  • Partner with Quality to resolve non conformances, implement corrective actions, and achieve zero defect targets.
  • Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence methodologies to improve productivity and reduce waste.
  • Lead Kaizen events, 5S initiatives, and data driven performance improvement programs.
  • Monitor and maintain production KPI’s (OEE, on-time delivery, scrap rate, first-pass yield, etc.) and establish corrective action plans when goals are not achieved.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing manufacturing leadership team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and employee engagement.
  • Assess talent needs, manage workforce planning, and promote skills development.
  • Oversee maintenance, calibration, and lifecycle planning for manufacturing equipment.
  • Evaluate, suggest, and implement advanced manufacturing technologies (automation, robotics, digital manufacturing, Industry 4.0).
  • Collaborate with Engineering on manufacturability, tooling, and process validation and improvement.
  • Develop and manage manufacturing budgets, cost targets, and capital expenditure plans.
  • Optimize labor, materials, and overhead while maintaining product integrity.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives without compromising safety or quality.
