About The Position

Taylor Corporation is looking for a Director of Manufacturing Operations at our Corporate Graphics Commercial facility in North Mankato, MN. This role is responsible for leading manufacturing operations to achieve growth objectives, financial goals, and continuous improvement in productivity, quality, and cost containment. The position involves managing production teams, developing business plans and budgets, overseeing purchasing and inventory, and ensuring a safe work environment. The Director will also support the implementation of automated systems and stay informed of market trends and customer needs.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of applicable and progressive experience in manufacturing and operations leadership
  • Proven track record in the use of Continuous Improvement tools and methodology such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma techniques & metrics
  • Strong knowledge of plant operations, warehouse management, demand planning and Capital Expenditures
  • Solid understanding of unique customer requirements, and skills to strategically plan for effective production runs
  • Advanced level proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations or related field plus 5+ years of applicable and progressive experience in manufacturing and operations leadership
  • Demonstrated experience in providing creative solutions to complex customer facing issues
  • Direct experience interacting with customer leadership team(s) to accomplish business objectives.
  • Proven leadership, communication, teaching, motivation, change management, project management, and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to prepare and present complex information to Executives while generating a strategic plan that integrates business issues, functions and resources for effective action
  • Solid understanding of financial accounting
  • General understanding of job costing and profitability implications

Responsibilities

  • Promoting and maintaining a safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company standards.
  • Selecting, developing, training, and motivating staff to ensure attainment of short- and long-term growth objectives.
  • Leading Production Managers and Shift Supervisors in the operation of a multiple shift manufacturing facility, including development of a highly responsive production team.
  • Leading the plant team on quality & service improvement and continuous improvement in all aspects of the business.
  • Leading the operation to ensure all financial goals and objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Data driven Problem Solving within a team environment.
  • Developing and improving measurement and control systems to ensure highly effective performance in the areas of productivity, quality and cost containment.
  • Developing business plans and budgets to contribute to the overall growth and profitability of the Company.
  • Negotiating vendor contracts and holding current vendors to contractual obligations.
  • Overseeing the effective management of purchasing, inventory control, warehousing, planning/scheduling and delivery.
  • Keeping Sr. Leadership apprised of progress toward objectives through monthly progress reports and financial reporting.
  • Identifying areas requiring improvements and ensuring the appropriate production or administrative functional areas implement necessary actions.
  • Leading the development of preventive maintenance programs for the physical facility and plant equipment.
  • Supporting the implementation of automated systems throughout the plant.
  • Remaining informed of competitive activities, trends in the market, as well as maintaining a sound relationship with customers.
