As a Life Plan Community, Rockhill offers a continuum of care that includes Residential Living, Personal Care for adults who need assistance with daily activities, and Health Care for individuals in need of 24-hour support. We offer a Generous Benefit Package and Competitive Salary to Full Time Employees POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the operation of the Environmental Services department (Maintenance, Security, Transportation, and Grounds) in accordance with the current federal and state regulations and facility procedures to achieve safety effectiveness for the facility.

Requirements

  • Minimum: High School diploma and/or equivalent.
  • Minimun: Three years of experience in a Director level Environmental Services, Plant Operations, or similar position.
  • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner in order to communicate with residents, employees, family members, volunteers, and the public.
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Must have the ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Must have ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Must have an advanced understanding of how to operate a computer and hardware issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: Bachelors’ Degree in Business Administration
  • Preferred: Three years of experience directing the Environmental Services department in a long-term care facility.
  • Preferred: HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical certification

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Leads of Maintenance and the Transportation Coordinator. Supervise staff with goals of high productivity, Employee engagement and Resident satisfaction (above industry average).
  • Communicate with residents and staff at scheduled meetings.
  • Plan, organize, develop, implement, evaluate, and direct the Environmental Services department, its programs, activities, and budget.
  • Accompany surveyors during annual Life Safety Surveys and oversee mock inspections throughout the year to prevent common deficiencies.
  • Develop and implement a plan of correction for survey deficiencies.
  • Conduct fire and life safety drills in accordance with state and federal regulation.
  • Submit recommendations to the Chief Operating Officer for maintaining the building in a safe manner.
  • Conduct performance appraisals, disciplining of staff and recommending salary and promotion changes as needed.
  • Works actively with outside vendors to purchase supplies, receive estimates and negotiate price on equipment, facility repairs, etc. Submit recommendations to the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Prepare campus wide capital budget.
  • Place orders for equipment and furniture as needed within the capital budget framework.
  • Develop, Implement, monitor, and maintain a preventative maintenance program.
  • Oversee systems to ensure requests are performed on time and maintain inventory of parts, supplies, and equipment.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain an operational budget for all Environmental Service department operating expenses including contracted services.
  • Maintain manifest records for proof of destruction of medical waste.
  • Develop and maintain MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) on all chemicals used in the community. The manuals must be accessible at all times.
  • Coordinate and schedule with other departments, to minimize disruption to residents and staff and ensure requests are fulfilled.
  • Responsible for updating the facilities disaster plan manual and keeping information relevant year to year.
  • Coordinate the functions of environmental services with other departments, to ensure requests and/or services to the residents remain constant.
  • Schedules and conducts departmental meetings on a regular basis. Attend all required meetings and facility in-services.
